shouldn't the screen lock when the doors in the glove box lock? For some reason my screen will still operate even though the doors are locked you can reach in push the button screen goes down unless I have it in valet mode and in then you have to enter your password. But it seems like there should be an easier way, the infotainment center manual does not mention any other way of doing this but if you start and stop ie: running errands I don't want to have to keep putting in my code for valet mode? does anyone else know of a way to lock the screen when you get a certain distance away, like your door locks so basically have the screen operate like the doors that's all I'm asking?
If you have a M7 & put it in reverse the screen won't lower. Doesn't really lock it but unless a thief knew to take it out of reverse he can't simply hit the button.

Just curious here cause I have an auto. On past vehicles I've owned with manual transmissions, I remember some that required the transmission to be put in reverse to rotate the ignition key totally off & remove it. Is the Vette the same?

In the past the Corvette was require to be in "R" while parked, early C6's, of course this was in the manuals, but that was quickly done away with.
As for the screen, your choices are "R" in the manuals or valet mode. On thing that made a neat feature pretty much worthless was to not have it lock when you locked your car. Of course with the motion sensor I guess that GM figured it wasn't needed...unless you left the top off or down, as that turned off the motion sensor.
Hooray, another item for a class action suit.
Sorry if I am misreading your question, but If you are "running errands" and away from the car with your fob in your possesion, the screen door should not open, does it open on your Vette without the fob?

yessireebob, That's my whole issue. top is off, I leave car. doors lock. I place fob about 300 ft away and go back to car. of course the doors are locked (as they should be) however screen is not! and the only way that I have found a way to lock it is to put it in "valet" mode. which like I said is a pain. the screen ie: entire car should "lock" whenever you are far enough away, at least that's how I see it. other wise why even have locks!! lets just leave car wide open...
oh yeah, try calling the infotainment people.....I spent an hour trying to tell what vehicle I have.
That is really poor design that the cubby hole doesn't lock.
The glove box isn't lockable. So where can we securely place an iPod or other device using the USB plug, and not have to worry about it being stolen? I park with the top down all the time.
Hmmmm.....might have to find a way to run a very long USB cord from the glove box to the trunk so that I can securely store my iPod there.

Doesn't the glove box lock when the car is locked, and no key fob present? That doesn't help if you leave someone the key, of course, but that's what valet mode is for.

I believe that to be the case, but it is not mentioned in the owners manual and I have not tried it.

I just tested this, and the glove box is locked when the car doors are locked, and the fob not nearby. The screen, however, does not lock. Seems like an oversight on Chevy's part.
Whoops- I meant to type "The arm rest isn't lockable. So where can we securely place an iPod or other device using the USB plug, and not have to worry about it being stolen? I park with the top down all the time.
Has anyone run a long cable from the arm rest USB to their trunk?

why not place it in the hidden compartment and then lock it by using valet mode? There is also a USB port in there.
