Anyone try this to fix small rock chips on the windshield? I have three small chips just to the left of my line of vision. I spoke with a glass repair shop and they don't think they can repair them. They are not a real problem but when I do see them they are an irritant. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w208...fix-works.html
Thanks for the link. The pit filler sounds like it might work on a small pit that has enough depth for the product to adhere to. I've never heard of anybody using it on small pits though.
I also hate looking through a windshield that glistens with tiny rock pits, especially driving into the sun when you can see all of them. On my DD Honda, I just pony up the $150-$200 for a new windshield every couple of years. I realize a windshield on a C7 would be a lot more, but there's not much you can do to avoid them if you drive on the interstate at all, or if a dump truck passes you and sends a projectile towards your windshield.

I am not sure how many places this applies to, but in Florida the state law requires insurance companies to replace chipped windshields (with chip in driver's vision) with NO deductible- so you get a completely free windshield if you have chips obscuring your vision. Check your insurance laws- you may be a lucky winner.
Safelite. They will make it disappear. And your insurance company will pay the bill.
I recently had safelite repair a star in the windshield of my truck and I asked them about those pits you are talking about. He said they normally don't do anything to them because they are unlikely to spread into a crack. He told me to bring the car by and they'd put a drop of epoxy in the pit if I wanted to.
I bought the Rain X windshield repair kit. I used it on a small star on my CX-5 and it totally disappeared. I then used it on several chips on my C7. All but the most minor disappeared. I just put a drop of resin on the chip, covered it with a small plastic sheet they provide and parked it in the sun for 30 minutes. Used a razor blade to remove the plastic and scrape off the excess resin. @ $10 for the kit, it's worth a try.

Many insurance companies will pay the whole cost of chip repair without charging a deductible (on the theory that it saves them the cost of a whole new windshield if the chip causes a larger crack, I think). Ask your agent. The guys who do these repairs usually come to your location, will even do it while you're at work.
