Drove the C7 for the first time at night. (429 mi). Headlights came on fine. But then, I hit a bumpy patch of interstate, and the headlights began to bounce. As if they were loose in the socket. Anyone experience this?
I'm due for my 500 mile oil change at the dealership so will discuss it with them, but diagnosis might be and issue.
Would leave it overnite? I live 120 miles away.
I've seen that on my C7 and both C6s. It has got to be a pretty sharp bump but it is definitely there. But others will say it has never happened and their lights are rock steady. So who to believe... It doesn't appear to do anything bad to the lights in the long term so I just make note of it and move on.
Yup, same on my 2015 C7. First night drive I went over a couple of pretty good bumps at about 35mph and saw the beam "bounce" like perhaps the light assembly was loose..........at first oil change I mentioned it to the service mgr and he said it was normal.....post if you find out something different............tks, Doug.
Normal for HIDs. If you want to figure out why, while in your driveway at night with your car pointed at your closed garage door, turn on the lights. The light beam will appear as steps, sharp and focused. If that doesn't answer your question, than push down on a front fender as if checking your suspension.
It is the nature of HID headlights, both what makes them best and can make them disconcerting. But as a driver you will adjust.

The C7 HID bulb is a Bi-Xenon construction. When on low beam, light is physically blocked like you placed a piece of metal on the upper half of the light. On high beam the bub actually moves magnetically and the upper portion is no longer blocked. Just looked at a YouTube video of a Bi-Xenon operating between high and low beam. Looks like the bub would move or vibrate if you hit a sharp bump.
