Default Seat Memory Question

I've had my car about 3 weeks now and I love it. The only thing that I'm having an issue with is the seat memory and easy exit functions. The easy exit works fine when I exit the car. The thing that doesn't seem right is the seat doesn't move in on its own when I get in the car. In settings when I turned on the easy exit function I also went to Auto Memory Recall and set for when door opens.

So I would think the seat should move to my set memory position when I open the door.....well it doesn't. It stays back and I have to press the seat memory button to get it to move in. Now yesterday and today (once each day) I got in the car pushed the memory button the seat and steering wheel moved not even an inch and that's it I had to move the seat in and position the steering wheel manually. After the first time I set the memory button once I had my positions set and things moved back into place fine a bunch of times until it happened again today.

I would appreciate any insight you guys might have.

Well i'm not sure if this will help you but I know the auto recall in my z recalls to preset number 2 instead of number 1.

There's two options for this. I'm not sure if you've done this yet. There's one for when you exit the car and one for when you start it. You need to set it to recall once you press the ignition. It's in the settings. I ended up figuring it out myself since my salesman couldn't find the setting at the time.

Is there any mode to where when the driver unlocks the door the seat will self position - also is there any mode that will move the seat to the exit position when the ing is turned off?

Thanks

Yes that's the auto memory recall. There's 2 options one is when the car starts and the other says when door opens. My car is an M7 and im only 5'9" I can't reach the clutch and break pedals when the seat is way back. I believe that's why they also offer when door opens.

Do you have the easy exit set? Does your seat move to your driver position when you open door or start engine without pushing the memory button?

I don't think I have it set right - when we unlock my fob or hers the seat does not move unless i push the pre-set button.

Thanks

I believe it's supposed to use the last preset you used. Mine moves when I press the ignition and when I open the door after I turn it off. It is also a 7M.

My seat moves back when I turn the car off also. Your saying your seat moves to your memory setting when you press the ignition button without pressing the memory button?

Make sure that your exit position is not pushing the seat back into the bulkhead behind the seat. There is a limit switch back there and if the seat is pressing it, seat operation is erratic.

Yes. I don't even have to press the clutch. Usually, I press the ignition to move the seat closer and then press the clutch in and push the ignition to start the car.

FOB's are not numbered 1 or 2. Make sure you have FOB #1 and programming the door at the #1 position. Dealer handed my wife and I the FOB's. I was trying to program FOB #2 for the #1 position on the door. It was a nightmare. Went back to the Dealer and my Salesman knew exactly what the problem was. Seat position at Exit and Entry work perfectly now. Plus as stated do not move the seat all the way back at exit when programming.

Yeah but in easy exit mode the seat moves back to where it goes. No way to control that

My car was delivered May 16th. I questioned Mike Furman about that. He said it doesn't matter anymore. Said GM fixed that problem.

The suggestion on touching the start without foot on brake is an excellent one. Allows shorter folks to get into the car easily (seat in exit position) and with a touch without foot on brake bring the seat into proper driving position before actually starting the car. I don't have the clutch reach problem myself (6'2"), but I do like to be in proper driving position before I actually start the car. Great tip.

Love the car; hate the seat memory. Works OK until you knock it out of sync. I had no issues with my C6 or C5.......why did they have to muck things up.

You can set the exit position the same way you set the memory positions.

I don't believe you can set the seat to automatically go to your set position when you enter the car. If it did then you wouldn't benefit from the easy exit / enter position. You then need to push on the start button and it should automatically move to your set position.

As others have mentioned do not set the easy exit to the jam position (all of the way back). If you do, jus t move the seat forward a little bit with the manual adjuster and hit the button (1 or 2) that you use for yourself.

On my C6 Z06, you need to have the parking brake on for the easy exit to work. I am not sure if that is true for the C7.

You want the seat back when you ENTER the car or you'll bang your knee on the SHARP end of the dash that some idiot designed. Funny think is, the passenger side design is totally different. No pointy dash to bang a knee on.
