1-2 Shift Difficulty On Competition Launch
I found a nice straight rural stretch of road with no traffic and practiced my competition launches yesterday (manual, non-Z51).
I found that several times I had problems hitting second gear on that first quick shift. It wasn't that I missed it and went into fourth by mistake, but instead it was as if I hit the gate and bounced off it into neutral. There is a sickening feeling hearing the revs shoot that high as you ruin the launch.
I never have this problem in normal driving and I don't use the rookie mistake of grabbing the shifter like a can of beer. I am doing a pull down motion with fingers in front and hand above.
Has anybody else experienced this phenomenon in competitive launch or want to offer any helpful advice?
