So, I finally tried Eco mode.

Actually, you only use about 15 HP to maintain a constant highway speed in most any car.

I don't think if you filled the back of a C7 with gravel and towed a boat it would take 100 hp to maintain freeway speed lol

Manual Transmission C7's will only go into V4 mode in ECO mode. Automatic C7's will go into V4 mode in any driver mode. Only way to keep an automatic out of V4 mode is to put the tranny into manual mode.

I find it funny, folks say they will never use it because they bought a V8. Seems to me the Eco AFM mode is no different than a transmission.
Do folks drive around all day in just ONE gear?

What about at WOT? I mean cmon part throttle this engine makes less than 50 hp according to it's gauge. Does everyone go wide open and use all 460hp all the time because that's what they paid for?

You mention a HP gauge. Upon delivery my salesman mentioned one, but I've never found. I thought he was mistaken. Care to enlighten me?
EDIT I just answered my own question. It's a pocket gauge option in sport mode. Not sure how I missed it.

Switch your gauge layout to sport, either in the settings or by switching the mode **** to sport.
Then go into settings and you will see an option called "pocket gagues", these are the two gauges on either side of the tach that you can customize, they are only available in sport mode. You can choose HP as one of them, I think I have my other one as oil pressure.
You'll be surprised how low that gauge reads under normal driving conditions, just another toy GM gave us to play with
EDIT: You were editing lol

the excess vibration running in 4 cyl mode is enough to keep me from using it. I had read the vibrations running in 4 cyl mode were so severe that gm desighned a steel tourqe tube to compensate.
for what it gets me , it is not worth the risk .it working flawlessly for 4 , 5 or even 10 thousand miles is nothing as far as longevity are concerned.
I have an M7 and it will never go in eco mode. mostly because I just don't need to . cruising in 7th gets me plenty of MPG.

I do not have a vibration, I have never put it on.
my point was , why did GM put a steel torque tube on the c7.
I am not an engineer, nor very smart, but my research led me to the info that GM switched to a steel torque tube to counter act / dampen the nast vibrations that AFM created.
I do not promote the use or non use of afm. In fact I hope people use it because when they have 75k to 100k on their c7 I would like to know if the engineering succeded or failed. Hoping for success but keeping AFM off in mine ( because I can ) until the proof is clearer.

My A8 moves from V4 to V8 and back with rarely any notice from me. Once I turned the stereo off and tried to listen and feel as it transitioned, but the best I could do is occasionally feel a slight nudge going from V8 to V4. In normal driving I don't feel or hear it at all, and with the A8 it works in all driving modes.
I can't discern any difference between AFM's behavior from Eco thru Sport modes, and I don't use Track mode often enough to have come to any conclusion there. Since AFM kicks in and out in unpredictable ways it is hard to judge its impact on mileage, but I can believe the claims that it adds 2-3mpg, and if it does that I'm on the bandwagon. It's not like a I have a choice, though, unless I want to shift manually, which I don't most of the time.

7,500 miles and I couldn't tell you when I'm in it or not.....it's seamless with my A6.
The car has the technology why not use it? It's like saying you won't use your NPP exhaust because you don't want to scare the birds.
On my 12 hour road trips I'll put it in "E" and smile as I roar by Prius owners hunning at their 55 mph power saving eco speed... While I'm pulling 32 MPG at 73 MPH.
