Default Bitter Sweet Tears....

After the emails, phones calls, text messages, Art & Carol made
their 5 hour drive to upgrade their 1978 Pace Car Corvette to a beautiful 2015 Shark Grey Stingray Coupe.

We had an enjoyable conversation then, after their paperwork,
after showing them all about the car, after the onstar call, bluetooth the phones, it was time to go and enjoy their new one…..

Carol stood over her ‘78 they have had for 30 years, many shows,
fun cruises , memories with the kids and the tears of emotion began…..

It really is powerful the emotional bond we have with our Corvettes
and its simply awesome when you truly think about your times in a Corvette and what they meant to you.

A new chapter begins with a new Stingray and just wanted to say thank-you to them both for making me a part of this old and new memory - Congratulations!

They are currently on their way to Mackinac Island

If I was that emotionally attached I would have found a way to keep it.

Had my one owner '75 for 38 years and after being in the 2014 C7, can't say I miss it. We will always have the memories.

My dad had a '78 when I was little. Inactually didn't like it cause I couldn't see over the dash. LOL.

Would love to have one now all fixed up. A cruiser.

If you didn't know anything about Corvettes and saw this picture, might be hard to tell which one was 37 years newer.

Mackinac Island seems like an odd destination, since no cars are allowed there. The drive to the city should be fun, though.

That is one fine looking '78 - would be hard to part with it, but now they can make new memories with the C7. Congrats to them both.

That 78' looks sweet, but the feeling might sour when you drove it.

The headlight styling gives it away, even a non car enthusiast would easily be able to tell which car is more modern.

I understand the attachment to older cars that have been in the family a long time, but I have never been a fan of the C3s at all (except the early 68-72 style) The C7 is a better car in every single aspect, and I'm sure after the first drive in the C7 this couple will quickly have smiles on their faces and know they made the right decision. Had they kept the 78 I doubt they would have wanted to drive it very much.

Why would you sell it I wonder... If I was that attached to a car, I would find a way to keep it. I mean how much will that car go for anyways. 15-20K?

agreed in all aspects. I love the early C3s (hate the interior)

also keeping it, they wouldn't drive it much. but such an old car that isn't really a collectable grade, I'd probably keep it as I assume they didn't get much for it.

IMO maybe $7,500 retail at best...trade it and move on.

Ironically, you can't drive a car on Mackinac Island.
