Nav
Does the 2015 nav give alternative routes? My sons ford pickup gives 3 options to pick from. I was also told I could send route from iPad to nav but have not found out how.

Hate it when no one replies to my thread so I'll give a bit of advice, the whole alternative route thing I have not found anywhere but my iPhone and a Garmin I have so I don't know if it's possible on the factory Nav, this could change next year as the 2016 year is rumored to have apple car play( can't remember if it was confirmed as apples name wasn't plastered all over the press release ). Now for the iPad thing, try linking the car to your iPad via Bluetooth or directly connected in the console, I haven't tried this but it's worth a shot and should work easily on the 2016.

I have seen multiple routes come into view when I enter/call up a destination, route selection is actually made at this time. Select your route preferences from the menu prior to calling up a destination.

In the '14, you can send from ipad/computer to the nav system, but the number of waypoints is limited to either 3 or 5, i forget which. IIRC, you also have to login to onstar to do it.
Programming in-car allows unlimited waypoints, and easier to rearrange on the fly.

I have ask numerous questions before and not received any answered. I guess I ask to hard of questions.

I am on a trip from Fort Worth Tx to Vacaville Ca and back. We took the northern route to Ca, using I40 to I5. The nav wanted to send us the southern route using I20. It complained for 50 miles till I turned it off.
Now we want to take the southern route back and it wants to take us back on the northern route. No choices. I don't understand what they are thinking.
I will have to use google maps

Check the NAV settings for things like "avoid toll roads" , auto-rerouting around traffic, and whether you have it set for fastest route or shortest route, which are not always the same.
For example, to get from where I live to Raleigh, NC, it is faster to take one interstate 45 min NW to Richmond, VA, then pick up I 95 than it is to drive any route south.
The northwest then south route is all interstate.
The southern route is rural/country roads.
The south route is shorter but scenic, then north route is faster.
If no toll roads is set to on, and you get on a toll road anyway, the system will tell you to get off the toll road at every exit.
Since you know you want to go the northern route, add a waypoint that is on the route you want to take.
Mine will keep telling me to make a uturn to get back to the original calculated path. If I ignore it and keep going, it will eventually generate a new route.

I did searches and did not the answers I ask. The manual and the online Manual are different. I called onstar and they said mapquest would work.
So thanks for the assumption that I didn't do a search. I know you have all the answers, but sometimes I need help.
Which is what I ask for!

Should be able to set waypoints along the the route you prefer, but I have not tried this yet. I, like you, would love to choose the route I prefer and only have to listen for turn instructions.
