My 2015 C7 seven speed has developed a very slight leak of fluid from the trans axle in less than 1400 miles. Dealer Svc dept thinks the leak is from a weep hole between the trans and rear end that prevents fluids from transferring from one to the other. Chev Cust Service will not permit me to talk to any technical service personnel.
The dealer has never attempted this project and complete disassembly of the vehicle from the engine back is required to remove the trans axle. This project will require a week and no one knows what parts will be required.
Has anyone have any experience with this problem. I am so leery of letting anyone attempt to scatter my new car all over a shop for a week.
So, is it the transmission or differential?
If it is the axle coming out of the differential, they should be able to replace the seal without removing the differential or transmission.
There is no transaxle like on front wheel drive cars. The transmission and differential bolt together but are still independent.
GM Customer Service could not tell me the color of the trans fluid or diff fluid. I know they are different components but they are connected with a shaft and a seal. The fluid is pale red similar to ATF. Neither fill plugs seem to have been removed. That's my next step.
If it is an automatic checking the fluid is not easy. The car needs to be on a lift and running with warm fluid. The diff is only a fill plug that is easy to check with a jack or ramps. You need to find a dealer with a good Corvette tech.
It says 7 speed. The 7 speed uses red fluid, the diff does not. It's understandable that the owner doesn't want an inexperienced tech pulling the driveline out of his new C7. Luckily Dunedin FL is only 50 miles from the biggest Corvette dealer in Florida. Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City has experienced Corvette techs.

That is a good point. I was driving by Stingray yesterday and a load of new Corvettes sat there on the truck with the covers still on.

Sounds to me like a trip to Stingray Chevrolet would be in order. I'd want a tech that has lots of experience with Corvettes to take a look at it and repair as needed.
Maybe the dealer told you that, but I can't imagine a scenario where Chevy Customer Service would shut you out. My best guess is the dealer told you that to keep you out till it's done. I'd pass that up the line through the Chevy customer service reps on here to get feed back from them. Best of luck, it should be ok when done.

Well; believe it. I was on the phone with GM Cust Svc. in Detroit. They said GM techs will be contacted by the dealer only. if the dealer service needs advice on repair. The Dealer took me into the Shop with my car on the rack to show me the leak and explain what they would have to do.

Hi bdescalzi,
I am deeply sorry to hear about your service concerns while at the dealership. I would be happy to look into this further and offer assistance while your car is being serviced. If this interest you, please send us a personal message with your VIN, mileage, contact information and involved dealership.
Just an FYI - Keith is the Vette Tech @ Autonation on West Colonial here in Orlando, removed and replaced my A8 tranny in a single day. I assume he could do this work for you if you wanted to travel that far and get it done right.
