Default Window Tint

I have never had a car's windows tinted before. I have an AW 2015 Z51 and I am looking for recommendations on both type and % as well as a good installer in the San Diego area.

Thanks

Make sure you check with California current law pertaining to maximum darkness allowed.....otherwise you may wind up wasting your money if pulled over. I say this out of experience (times 2)

Don't go too dark or you will get a fix-it ticket down in SD. It's rather hit or miss as I had my truck tinted down there for 9 years with tint before I moved up here and never had an issue but I know several that have. As the car is white, the tint will stand out even more than you may think. Most tint blocks out almost all UV rays and that is good so the "dark" factor blocks out heat and ads privacy. I went with 40 Percent ceramic tint on mine and am fine with it. I have much darker on my truck and it can be a PITA to see at night some times without rolling down the window.

i would get something like 35% all around (not including the front windshield). if you want a darker look get 20%.

Personally i think 35% looks the best. Has a tint look, and is very classy. i went 5% when i was 18-19 years old.

Installed 30% ceramic (definitely get ceramic vs regular) all the way around yesterday. Definitely helps with the heat.

Usually the side windows cannot exceed a certain percentage - the back can be darker if you want it that way. At least that is the way it is in Missouri.

Default Window Tint

CA law prohibits any tint on the front side windows or windshield. The back can be as dark as you want. Very few LEO write tickets for it and it's only a fix it ticket.

It's been no tint on the side window's in California for decades. That being said, I run 50% on the sides, 20% on the rear.

I used 3M crystalline window tint, stuff is pretty damm nice. My installer was given some by his supplier to do a couple cars to showcase it. He charged $200 for all the windows, a steal for this stuff.

•The ultimate in high technology, offering clear film technology with outstanding heat rejection to create the perfect film for high end cars

•Improves comfort: rejects up to 97% of the sun's IR rays and rejects up to 60% of the heat coming through your windows
•No signal interference: Crystalline films are non-metallized
•Interior protection: blocks up to 99.9% of harmful UV rays to reduce fading of your car's interior
•UV/Skin protection: provides SPF of over 1000, a Skin Cancer Foundation recommended product

50% side tint

20% rear tint

I feel that if you stay in the 35% or higher tint, higher meaning lighter, that you will not get pulled over. There is a fabulous tint that I put on my Audi Allroad which is photochromatic to a small degree, Spectra PhotoSynch. Word of warning though, it has a slight blue hue to it so it may not work well with all colors.

Too dark is just begging to get pulled over and it is dangerous at night.
