I will say I drive my C7 in tour mode most of the time to try to save some on gas and sport mode when I need to push it a little more. I feel like the C7 in sport mode drives similar to my auto C6 base. Based on the cars fuel economy my C6 got 27 mpg and the C7 get under 25 even thought I feel like I drive it the same. Also I can feel when it goes from V4 to V8 and back which makes me feel like the car will not be as durable as my C6. So my perfect Corvette would be:
C6 with C7 body/interior with performance exhaust
Honestly I really preferred how the C6 drove. I would not want to trade in my C7 and go back but just wanted to voice my opinion.
What does "drives similar" mean? Are you talking about throttle response, steering feel, body sway, something else?
I'm not sure where you are quoting "drives similar". I did say I drive the same way in both meaning I like to accelerate hard from a stop and accelerate fast around annoying people that are driving slow in the left lane. I only drive in automatic so I don't mess with the paddle shifters.
This is a female driver by the way and I do love the C7 I'm just saying I think the C6 felt better to drive - for me. I put 250K miles on my C6 and it still drove great.
I will take The Game's advise and look into getting rid of that V4 switching thing.

I got it straight out of your post:

Missed that, should say I've been relaxing with some wine. In sport mode that car accelerate much faster than in tour mode which seems to be what I remember about the C6.

I only have 11K since January. I use to drive well over 1K a week for work (which I was well paid for). Now I only drive from Charlotte to Florida 3 to 5 times a year plus I use it for my daily driver.

Sometimes I think people construe "better" and "more enjoyable" to be the same thing. I think something can be factually better, while also being less enjoyable. Automatic vs manual is a perfect example of that. In today's day and age with DCTs, no reasonable person can argue that a manual outperforms a good DCT. But despite that, you can certainly say a stick is more enjoyable.
With that said, if he likes his C6 more than a C7 who's to argue? Yes, the C7 is objectively better in virtually every respect.
However, I still have a soft spot for my very first car, a beat up 1990 Cadillac Seville with severe engine issues. It had an intermittent problem where the throttle would get stuck at WOT, to the extent where my friends were terrified of getting in my car because it would just randomly punch it . Despite the fact that I would objectively rate it as the absolute worst car I've ever owned, I actually loved the sheer madness of the car. Put a smile on my face every time, and if the engine hadn't exploded I'd drive it again .

I assume you meant to say the C7 seems to accelerate much faster in sport mode than it does in tour mode. (better lay off that wine - LOL) That would be the throttle progression. Put it in track mode and the throttle will be even more aggressive.
Throttle response can also be changed with a tune.
In the manual yes, it only happens in Eco mode. On the auto, cylinder deactivation happens in all driving modes UNLESS the transmission is in manual shift mode.
