This post will go on and on and on...

You will have as many opinions as there are people who post, and everyone has a reason for doing what they did. Nothing wrong with that. so, my 2 cents:

I got the coupe. Love the look of the vert, but the coupe seems more practical, and has a lot of storage space in the rear, all things considered. My wife and I have put 2 golf bags in back and stored the top in back at the same time; it takes a bit of wiggling the bags so everything fits, but is doable.

Next, I got the Z51, with NPP and mag ride. Bigger brakes - check. Cooler for the transmission - check. Bigger wheels and tires -check. eLSD (a game changer according to Tadge) - check. No, I don't plan on tracking the car, but wanted the most sports car I could get (Z06 was not out when I got my car). No regrets on any of it. I have both the exposed Carbon Fiber and transparent tops; it is a blast having both, as I can use the CF top when it's hot, and the transparent top in the Fall and Winter months when the sun is not as strong. Feels like having 2 cars. And 3LT - love the full leather and the nav.

Finally, I got the 7 speed manual. For me, it's all about the interaction and involvement with the car. Call me old school.

Only you can decide what you want, but I am one who tends to always option his cars to the max, and the C7 was no different.

I bought a 2015 1LT Z51 Coupe.

If I was buying again what would I change?

Assuming I could afford it I would have sprung for a Z06.

If I were buying again today (a 2016) the only things that would change would be I'd have an A8 instead of an A6 and of course...the price.

Same thought process for me on my z51 3LT M7, but I got the vert!

Default Good grief!

Whole lotta folks talking about practicality and how much stuff they can tote in their Corvettes. That might make some sense if it's your sole ride; daresay it is not for the vast majority of people.

Current C7 is my 6th Corvette. Last 4 have been Z-51's; all 6 convertibles. Two sticks; 4 autos. Plenty of room for a week long trip.

I would NEVER consider other than a fully loaded Z-51 convertible...tranny could be either but much prefer autos.

When you're spending large cash what's the difference of a few thousand? Yes, I am serious.

Flame suit on.

Peace, out.

sounds to me like a base vert is the way to go it has the softest suspension so no need for magnetic ride and since you won't be tracking the car there should be no need for z51 and the vert is just a push of the button away for the wife. I bought a base vert with zf1 appearance nap exhaust and black wheels 6500 down 841 month for 63 months thats the way i would go if i were you to get to your payment range that lease is horrible i was in the business for 7 years and one of the worst i've seen

That's a HUGE cap cost reduction (depreciation paid up front). You might want to shop around for better overall pricing to lower the starting point (car's price). This is why I stopped buying new cars (depreciation) until I hit 50 and told myself it was time to get the car I've been working years for. Since I couldn't afford the 911, I got the Vette.

whenever i see a years-long thread necro, i just think of some guy kicking back in front of his pc at like 10 at night sipping his 4th scotch and not noticing dates...

and yes, that lease was bullshit. a lease is often called a 'fleece' and i think the joke is pretty plain. dont lease cars, gents, its nonsense.

Targa actually allows storage underneath it. Vert will have much less storage capacity.

No track=Z51 not needed. Just adds an unnecessary layer of complexity to the vehicle.

Non Z51 cars are said to have a very compliant ride in stock form.

Must have=performance exhaust.

Ever wonder why Chevy makes so many Z51 Convertibles? They cant b tracked, so whats the point? So they can pick up the profit on the option i suppose.

what would i do over again?????? never sell my paid off C6 hahahahahahha. As i order ANOTHER new Corvette.. have to get the best of this Generation. they save the best for last.. always.. the last of the FE cars man.. they'll be depreciation but i have a feeling it will not be what people are thinking after the C8 is out 2 or 3 years and the ME fad wears thin on people who have enjoyed an FE layout and the comforts of them over the decades come looking for nice examples.. ..

As for Options? EVERYTHING you can afford and start at must haves down to "wants" and draw the limit at the cap... it's fun to build it.. i'm gonna miss the tossing and turning as i wake up and build it again and again lol .

The C8 will be fantastic as well.. as soon as it becomes a C9 and it works!
