My dealer's Service Dept Manager just called me and said they have the PDR software update. I have a 1:00 appointment to get it installed.
Would be very interested to know if you notice any improvement with the software upgrade- some have reported that much of the green tint is eliminated. If you have before and after clips- that would be fantastic.
Also wondering if there is a charge for this update (either the software or the service) or whether GM picks up the tab for the dealer's time with the upload.
For those of us who still have microphone functionality while in valet mode, will updating the PDR software to improve the video quality also kill the microphone from operating in valet mode?

I believe so (at least that is what I heard reported)

I had the update installed, it just took them a few minutes to do it. But, I am not impressed with the improvement. The "green" effect is gone but the picture is still too "fuzzy" to me, not a sharp picture like I had anticipated it would be.
Called my Service dept- they still have no expectation when they will get update from GM. Odd. I am calling around to a couple other local dealers to see if anyone around Boston has the software update.
Condition/ConcernSome customers may comment that the PDR camera’s clarity is poor, or there is a green tint/haziness to the video when they play back their recorder.
This may be caused by a calibration within the Performance Data Recorder.
Recommendation/InstructionsReprogram the Performance Data Recorder with the latest software. Refer to Vehicle Performance Data Recorder Programming and Setup in SI.
Important: Reprogramming should be done in the SD slot of the glove box, not the armrest location.
Important: Reprogramming the Performance Data Recorder will deactivate the audio in Valet Mode. Be sure to inform the customer before proceeding.
Note: Carefully read and follow the instructions below.
•Do NOT attempt to order the calibration number from GM Customer Care and Aftersales. The calibration numbers required for this service procedure are programmed into control modules via a Multiple Diagnostic Interface (MDI) with the calibration update. If you cannot access the calibration, call the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) and it will be provided.
•DO NOT program a control module unless directed to by a service procedure or a service bulletin. If the control module is not properly configured with the correct calibration software, the control module will not control all of the vehicle features properly.
•Ensure the programming tool is equipped with the latest software and is securely connected to the data link connector. If there is an interruption during programming, programming failure or control module damage may occur.
•Stable battery voltage is critical during programming. Any fluctuation, spiking, over voltage or loss of voltage will interrupt programming. When required install the EL-49642 SPS Programming Support Tool to maintain system voltage. If not available, connect a fully charged 12 V jumper or booster pack disconnected from the AC voltage supply. DO NOT connect a battery charger.
•Turn OFF or disable systems that may put a load on the vehicles battery such as; interior lights, exterior lights (including daytime running lights), HVAC, radio, etc.
•Clear DTCs after programming is complete. Clearing powertrain DTCs will set the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) system status indicators to NO.
Important: Once the reprogramming is completed, you will have to reselect the performance data recording icon, and will be prompted to finish the installation of the new calibration.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

well, I have been pulling the PDR recordings into GoPro Studio and then applying a filter in that tool to make it look better prior to exporting out to a Quick Time movie.
If you actually read the bulletin the guy posted above you would see that it does.
I did yesterday (and briefly did again just now). I'm coming off overnight so it was a tired half assed glance but I saw no mention of it. Was wondering if they sneakily included it in the new update (my suspicion says likely).
