Glad they finally did this. It just made since. Looked funny chrome with the carbon flash badge package. But I'm still happy I changed out to the Z06 grill. Thanks for sharing.

Looks exactly like a 2014 or 2015 with blacked out retainer.

I will stick with the chrome. It was a non issue it seems until a couple of auto rags said it looked like a retainer. Then there was a mad rush to black it out or the other extreme of replacing the grill with the Z06 grill.
In the end a matter of preference.

Looks a lot better. Next step would be to offer the rear lower valance body color - at least as an option

I doubt that the retainer makes much difference now that the front cameras are hanging there.

Indeed! Are those the new factory front cameras? Haven't seen those yet. If so, about the only way they could ne more obvious would be to perhaps put them in chrome housings!

Nice to see the blacked out strip on the 2016MY grille.

Personally, I went with the blacked out chrome strip on my 2015. At 1st, I thought the chrome strip looked OK, but after applying the carbon fiber look strip, I decided to stay with the blacked out version.

I am happy with my decision.

..and GM refused blind spot sensors on the sides of the fenders because they looked hokey....

Thanks for posting the 2016 photos. It's nice to see the changes and make comparisons between the 3MYs....2014, 2015, 2016.

I think the front cameras could have been recessed further into the grille to make them less visable.

Looks like the new base grille with the cameras will be more difficult, or should I say costly, to swap out. The cameras for the base and Z06 look different as well. They appeared to be more recessed and shapped differently on the Z06. The base cameras looked less OEM-like and appear to be an afterthought accessory. If they are different, and not interchangeable, then those extra cameras will be costly... for the Z06 to 2LT+ swap.

Yes they are and the black out retainer only comes with the C/F badge package. Sadly the cameras do look like what they are an after thought.

I'd like to know this as well. I have ordered a 2016 and was planning on swapping out the grill for the Z06 grill, but it seems like it may be more costly/difficult with these cameras now.

hahaha Some of you are drama queens.

The cameras hardly look bad, and the blacked out strip only makes sense and looks much better with carbon flash badges. glad I got that.

Unless someone studies the grill they are going to blend in and not be noticed. Especially if you have the carbon flash badge option.

Because I still plan to upgrade to the Z06 grille, I've already started thinking about this...

HOPEFULLY, the cameras themselves are interchangeable, and just snap into the various Corvette grilles from the back.

To maintain their stereoscopic focus and a stable picture, the camera's mount/enclosure needs to be rigidly molded into the grille. SO - if GM did this right, we could convert to a 2016 Z06 grille (or simply replace a damaged original grille), and there would be no need to replace the cameras. I would really hope they thought that far ahead with these things...

Sounds good in theory, at least . . .

This is what I was hoping for as well. We'll have to wait and see if the part number for the 2016 Z06 grill is (along with its cost) to verify that it's different from the previous one. Then we can see if the part numbers for the cameras are the same or different between the Stingray and Z06.

I'll probably end up waiting until someone else does the conversion successfully before I try it myself. In the mean time, I'll probably add the Z06 front splitter and rear quarter panel intake scoops.
