Default Replacement tires

I am going on 20,000 on my base coupe. Front tires are looking a bit rough. I am a pretty aggressive driver. What tires are people going with? I probably would stick with run flats, but, knock on wood, I haven't had a flat in years. Ironically, no one here has the OEM Michelins. I guess I could go with Tirerack, but dread trying to find a competent installer.

I'm not sure how anyone has a complaint with Discount Tire.

The dreaded marks on the rim argument perhaps?

I would simply talk to the manager/whoever to ask politely that it is treated like gold.

Other than that, can't beat their service center locations=everywhere.
And replacement warranties.

Check the Tirerack site, they have authorized installers. In my case they use the Firestone dealer who has 10 bays and does a lot of other work than tires. They also have a touchless tire machine. The local Chevy/BMW/Mercedes dealer uses them for all their run flates. They had fixed published prices for mounting and balancing and were happy to mount tires I got from Tirerack.
I wouldn't let anyone who didn't have a touchless tire mounting machine touch the low profile run flates, even to just take the tire off. This is a video of one working:

Nearest Discount Tire is 70 miles away. All we have around here is Tire Kingdom and Tires Plus. The Firestone store near me is a recommended installer. I may go with Tirerack and have them shipped.

Anyone have opinion on Dunlops ?

tires can be mounted where the equipment touches the inside (not visible part) of the rim.

who cares if there is a scratch in the inside of the rim they never will see?

Michelin PS A/S runflats. They are a tad harder than OEM and thus last longer and will continue to grip below 40 degrees F.

I don't see 40 degrees very often in SW Florida. I'd like a reasonable high performance summer tire.

I ran Dunlops on my wife's '99 Camaro SS, replaced the Goodyear Eagles that she wore out. They offered a great ride, good traction and wore well.
Another tire to try is Hankook Ventus V12. I used them as replacement on my "09 Corvette with the Z51 option. Got good mileage out of them, 27,000+ and improved handling over the Goodyear Supercars that came on the car.
Both are good and not overly costly.

TireRack, absolutely. When ordering on their website you can choose from their list of authorized installers and they will ship the tires directly to that installer. Everything is guaranteed. Its the cheapest, easiest, safest way to go.

We don't see 40 often in Houston, but I don't notice any lack of grip and they last longer.

We have that tire machine at my work and I can tell you its nice, but it will take the paint off a wheel just as easy as any other machine. Low profile tires are a pain with it.

Not sure what your definition of "reasonable high performance" is. I don't think there are any tires that offer a reasonable tread life that stick better than the OEM Michelins. Continental DW (not DWS) tires are good, will ride better, but not stick quite as well, and are not runflat. I know some people like Nittos, and they're certainly cheaper than the OEM tires, but aren't run flat and don't perform as well as the OEMs.

TireRack will show you all the tires in your size, and you can read the road test results and owner ratings for them.
