Default Spark Plug Protectors with Headers

For those of you with headers on your C7 do you have to run the spark plug protectors, or are the stock plug wires ok?

I am working with a company to develop a new set of headers (more on that later) but I wanted to know if I needed the sock things or if people run the stock wires without them.

I'm running my ARH headers with the normal factory set-up. See enough air gap that I am not worried about heat.

Thanks for the reply! I know some people do it just as a precaution but if it's mandatory I figured I should make sure I order some.

I also have ARH long tubes and use factory plug wires without issue.

Ok sweet! I'm super pumped to be the first person to get a brand new header design I just want to have everything ready when it's time to install.

How many of you have dyno'd before and after the headers?

Running ARH mid lengths and changed the wires to Magnacor with the socks, just in case.

No Dyno here. I see the flames come out when many post their dyno numbers so don't want to get lost in those discussions. It's my satisfaction with the overall car and driving experience that I'm paying for, not a dyno slip that could be wrong because......

I do appreciate the purists here, and they do provide worthwhile information. It just gets dragged out too long in the minutiae......

Yeah that's true, the big problem with dyno numbers is when people put too much stock in the absolute number. The real benefit of a dyno is showing the DIFFERENCE in power when you change ONE thing.

That whole one thing is the rub lol.

I know I'm not the only one waiting for a set of affordable headers so I'm excited to test these out.
