Default Order production code explanation

Ok guys need an explanation, what does in transit mean exactly. Does it mean they have moved the car from the assembly like to quality control, or moved it to the back lot for storage at B/G or is it on the truck headed toward Toledo, since it's headed to the west coast by rail car.

Either on a truck for Toledo or on a rail car to the west coast. Check with your dealer, they should know.

"in transit" doesn't correspond to any actual production code:

3800 Vehicle Produced
4000 Vehicle Available to Ship
4104 Bailment Invoice Created
4B00 Bayed
4D00 On Hold At Plant
4P00 Hand Off To Carrier
4106 Bailment Released
4150 Vehicle Invoiced
4200 Vehicle Shipped
4300 Intermediate Delivery
4V03 Estimated Delivery Date
4800 Rail Ramp Unload
5000 Vehicle at Dealer

Could be anything from 4000 to 4800.

yep, I have an event code of 4300, so does that mean it's on a train headed west.

I don't know, but my guess is that means it is at Toledo awaiting a train car.

4300 has multiple meanings one is at a rail yard another is when the build is taken for stripes etc. It will then return to the plant and go back to 4B00 then to 4200.

In Transit is a dealer term and depending on the dealer could mean anything from assembled (3800) to delivered (5000) so to me means little. A dealer may not even be invoiced and will show the build In Transit. I suspect most dealers who use it have no idea what it means.

Laborsmith, I have been following your threads on the new cars with interest. The trouble here is ,I got the event code from ccc direct. I questioned them yesterday and they would not tell me exactly what, in transit means, or even where we are at event code 4300. I just want to know is it still in B/G, Toledo, or on a train headed here to the west coast.

My guess is Toledo and status won't change until loaded on the autorack. Rail car number won't be available until after on the rail car and you can't get the rail car number from CCC; your dealer can get it and once you have it you can track the progress of the rail car.

There are instructions for tracking the rail car somewhere on this forum; heck I might have even posted them here. When it arrives at the destination rail yard, it takes dispatch about two days and sometimes more to get it on a car hauler headed toward your dealer.

finally talked to a live person at ccc. Event code 4000 means produced, cleared quality control, but HAS not been shipped to Toledo.

4000 and not 4300! That does make a difference.

Try to get a copy of the Event History for your order # when you finally take delivery.
