C7 Stingray vs C6Z both STOCK race
#41
Unless the z06 driver launches perfectly or gets a hole shot, I can see the 8 spd auto c7 being way ahead, until triple digit speeds...

Just got back from racing a buddies C6Z. His car 100% stock my 15 Stingray non Z51 A8 bone stock.
We raced more than 10 times. Many from a dig, others from a 20,30 and 50 rolls.
I will start stating the A8 Stingray rocks. I was going to try all nannies ON and then try with traction control OFF. So much fun.... I just left left all nannies on.
I didn't do too much work driving with traction control on... Just point and scan. C6Z driver is a very good driver. Obviously ... Stick vs Auto two different things.
So, a long story short... I won all races except when we did the last race.. The 50 roll. He only pulled away slightly. That was 50-120
I understand the C6Z Has traction issues. But, HEY... It is what it is.
Stock for stock from a dig the C6Z has no chance from
0-140 mph. It will take a race from 0-155+ to pass.
Not bashing the C6Z... I love those cars. I just love the A8 and it's quick firm shifts and gearing.
Yes street racing out in the middle of boonies on straight flat road
Cheers

Okay dude whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. You beat the driver not the car.
C7 barely will eek a high 11 and be well under 120mph in the 1/4mi
C6Z will easily go deep into the 11s and be well over 120mph in the 1/4mi

Well we normally agree but that may not be true. Brent on this forum bone stock A8 went 11.3 at 123mph. After headers and tune and tires he went 11.0 at 126mph. It's not crazy to think the A8 can certainly hang BUT all things considered power to weight wins out at high speeds. The Z06 will eventually pass the stingray once north 120-130mph. But the A8's are no joke and next year once mine has the Novi 1500 and meth it should be quite potent!! : )

10.891 @ 128.9 and 11.025 @ 127.25 for the top two quickest on the C6 Z06 fast list.

C6 Z06, bone stock including the crappy OE Goodyear tires . Latest generation Michelin SuperSports on the Z06 should be even quicker and are not drag radials, and are stock on the C7 Z51.

I have to agree. The C6Z is nearly 300 lbs. lighter and has more power. You beat the driver.

On the street from the dig it looks like the C7 A8 will take out a C6Z. I'm pretty sure on a well prepped track the C6Z would do better. I'm sure between the manual and the extra HP the C6Z is having a hard time launching. Thanks for posting the video.

A stock c6Z on the street with oe goodyear run flats spins way to easy. The C7 with the pilot super sport run flats launch much harder and do not spin. I have a base 7 speed C7 and sold my 08 Z this April.
I did a lot of prep to get the Z to hook on the track ( was never any good on the street) and was rewarded with a 11.5 et @ 125mph. The car had a K&N, borla mufflers and a tune. Stock this car would be a 11.8 car max. My C7 launches harder and can mash the gas from a roll in first gear with out spinning, but I have not been to the track yet and am hoping to run 12 flat. What the hell , its 100 + lbs heavier and less horse. I would love to put the Michelin pilot super sport on the Z and the correct Z size to see how it hooks.

A dead stop.. And from 30 mph roll. Not happening with the A8.
Gearing ... In the A8 is pretty good. 5th gear to me sux.... Way to low extention

Traction is a key. And this is reality.
Why did I win 14 out of 15 races... The C6Z had less traction. I did state I left ALL nannies OFF in all races.
I lost on the 50 roll. That's it, all other races I won.
I will say though these races were in a short time period. My A8 was hot ... I'm
Not a Z51 but a base with A8.
Transmission was howling ... I guess I could say. It's stock so all is good

LMAO at the people crying driver or about swapping a (non stock) tire onto the Z. This race was obviously set up stock for stock, run what you brung and the Z didn't bring enough, plain and simple. Of course if they run it out to a high enough MPH the Z06 will eventually run down the base C7, no one is denying that. There might be a handful of guys on this forum that can control the Z and bang gears well enough to run with an A8 on the street.
