I have a Genie Silentmax 1000 opener on one of my garage doors and cannot get the remote in my 2016 Stingray to connect to it. I have tried all the steps in the manual at least four times, (even the instructions for Canadian Use). At times the car's indicator light will stay on solid red for as long as I hold the button but no response from the opener. The opener works fine with the other remotes. Also the car's system linked up easily to an older Genie opener on another door. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The frequency door openers operate on changed in 2005. In my 3 car garage I've got two openers. One on the double door is from 2000 while the one on the single door is from 2013. It is possible to get remotes that work with both old and new doors (and I have one in my truck). But so far the one built into my C7 only works with the new door...not the old one. Admittedly I haven't tried that hard as the C7 goes through the door with the new opener anyway.
This is a common problem with newer model Genie openers. Call the help number in your Genie manual and tell them you need one of the older remotes so that you can program your homelink. They are used to this request and will send you out a different style remote that will work with your homelink. I received my replacement remote for no charge 1 week after calling them.
If I remember correctly, the problem is the rolling code is rolling too fast for the homelink to pick it up. The older style remote they will send you works with your opener, but uses a slower rolling code.
You have to program the button in the car AND press the program button on the opener to sync them up.
Are you doing both steps?
My opener works fine with the Stingray, but on my other GM cars (Camaro and Malibu) I noticed I have to hold the button in the car down for 2 or 3 seconds to get the opener to pick up the code.

My one door opener didn't take the Home Link command until I pushed the sync button on the door motor command module. If I remember right you have thirty seconds to accomplish after setting the opener code in the car's Home Link control with the door opener.
If you google the process for the specific garage door opener, you will find that on the newer Genies you have to "fool" the unit into thinking that the rolling code is longer than it really is. You have to push the learn button several times making the head unit think it is a longer signal.
Thank you, for the info on the remote set up I also have been unable to get my opener to work on the car(program) ,new Genie in 2009, thought it was just me,Thanks again.
