Default Why did Chevy leave out the TOW hook?

Does anyone know why Chevy did not supply a tow hook with the C7? The owners manual stress the danger in using tow straps attached to the suspension. Is there a reasonable priced tow hook? I don't want to put it in and drive around like Im a racer. I would like one to have if I ever need to have the car winched on a flat bed truck.

Bottom line, don't want to pay over $50.00 for a simple bolt with an eye on the end. It does not need to look fancy, just needs to work properly when needed.

They saved money! My 2014 does not have the threaded nut behind the small panel where it's located on the cars for Europe. The better question is why did they include it on the European cars and the answer is it's required! Wonder if most tow truck operators in the US would use it anyway? They are used to other methods like using hooks around the lower "A" Arms. not good for the hollow aluminum castings on the C7 but bet it has been used!

Do any of the US non-Z51 cars have the threaded receiver? I have a 2016. I, too, would like to have a tow hook handy.

I thought I saw a vendor advertising them on here awhile back.

I don't know about other foreign branded cars but my Nissan Leaf came with a tow hook and threaded receiver behind both front and rear bumper facia. The C7 has all the provisions except the threaded receiver.

Just did a simple search and found this statement: "If your Z51 was made after 12/14/14 it will have receivers from the factory and all Z06s have them also. There is a thread about them in the Z06 section. "
Not sure accurate but you can look!

Any car sold in Germany and many other Eurozone countries are required to have toe hook capability, front and rear I think.

Why? Cost of course. Same reason they left off mirrors with turn indicators and headlight washers.

Mine was built week of 3/23/15 and has the receiver but it didn't come with the eye bolt tow hook.

Weaponx sells one, they're a forum vendor. I looked a while back and if I recall it was about $100.

12/13/14 build and no threads to add a towing hook/eye.
