Last night I stopped into a local bike shop and my wife sat in the car to catch up on her social network. With the top down a couple of boys on bikes wheeled past and asked her "if all four pipes put out exhaust?"
She has no idea about the C7 or NPP or anything of that sort so she just said she didn't know.
When I came out and started the car she told me about the exchange and I saw the boys getting on their bikes on the sidewalk. One of them said to the other something like "there it goes..." I shouted over if they wanted to know if all four "pipes" put out exhaust? They laughed and shook their heads yes. I switched from Eco to Track (my wife does NOT like the open exhaust when we drive together) and gave them three of four blasts while in neutral.
You could see from the smiles on their faces that someday they are going to have a sports car, maybe even a vette. I know when I was that age (maybe 10-12 years old) these things are vivid memories and hopefully a positive impression for them.

Yes sometimes we take so much for granted as we weave through our daily life routines. I often thought of starting a Forum titled Kids and Corvettes to keep youth interested in Corvettes and American sports cars in general.

Absolutely. You never forget your first ride in a fast V8 powered car. It's the beginning of a life-long addiction to HP, speed, and a thinner wallet.
I never miss a chance to talk to future Corvette owners about the car, I love the look on their faces when I open the door and offer them a chance to sit behind the wheel.
I'm hoping they keep the brand alive like I did for all of those years.
My opening line is "That car can be yours" that line sold many cars for me.
Cool had three young guys come by last night when I was washing my new Vette they kept saying they really liked it, one said he loved it... I remember those days.
As I was pulling into my complex, I saw two kids on green machines lined up next to each other getting ready to race down the street. I pulled up next to them and asked if I could join the race. I am now the coolest "kid" on the block. You could tell it really made their day.
Was driving out to dinner a few evenings ago and saw a group of boys on bikes heading towards us (they were on the sidewalk) As we approached I saw their faces light up and got a "Thumbs up" from the group, Naturally we waved back a tooted the horn.
Brought back memories of when I was a kid riding my bike and ogling every C1 and Mid year I saw. That "Corvette effect" seems to remain strong even after 50+ years.
I always let kids ogle my car all they want. I'll give it a few revs, and with the parents' permission, I let them sit in the driver's seat. I do it with adults, too. I've done it with all of my Corvettes and my old SRT Challenger.
The only reason why I drive such crazy cars is because my dad gave me this awesome hobby and taught me to love Corvettes and muscle cars when I was a little boy.
Now, I figure a few revs and some fingerprints is a small price to pay to pass that on to the next generation. I'll do it for as many little kids as I possibly can. Otherwise, they might not make these cars when I'm old and gray.
The more car enthusiasts we have in this world, the better!
