Am I being non-realistic?
2015 Vert MSRP* $69,665.00
8-speed paddle shift transmission $1,725.00
Performance exhaust $1,195.00
19" front/20" rear, Z51 5-split spoke Black aluminum wheels $495.00
Carbon Flash-painted rear spoiler and outside mirrors $100.00
ZF1 Appearance Package $1,995.00
2LT $4,160.00
Black convertible top NO CHARGE
Out the door price from sales manager including Florida sales tax at 6% $69,500
I countered with $66,000 based on McMulkin last 2015 in stock being discounted 11%.
Salesman wouldn't present offer to sales manager, said it wasn't a realistic offer.

Walk away if they aren't willing to negotiate (the bringing in the next rung on the ladder is BS, which is designed to wear you down). Only negotiate with someone that has the power to change something. The first one willing to walk away from the table wins. It may take a week or more to do this properly, be strong!
I love haggling! I got $20,000 off my Z06 by waiting a week to say yes.

The sales person is playing you and IMO he/she is an idiot. 1. Walk away. (my choice). Make sure the sales Manager knows your offer before you leave. One way to do that is to put your counter offer on the sales order and make your sales person bring you back a signed rejection. If he refuses, walk over to another sales person and ask him/her if they really want to sell a car. That will frost the person you were dealing with. Have some fun with it. 2. Go see the General Manager and make the offer. Bring them the market research. That's only if you really want this car. 3. Go online and if your sales person isn't the internet sales person, make an offer on line. My experience is that they will not great you like crap. 4. Contact MacMulkin, Kerbeck, or Criswell and buy from them.

Did you offer him $66K out the door ? That would put you 12% off MSRP and allow the dealer no Fluff for documentation fees and other BS. That would probably be a good offer 6 months from now but thats pretty low for a model year that just ended a month ago ... Dealer is probably willing to hang onto it a little while longer I would think instead of losing money. Good luck ... you never know .... For Reference ... I bought my 2014 in May of 2015 for 15% off MSRP .. Car was 278 days old when I bought it so was definitely aged inventory.

You have nothing to lose by offering this, if you think this is a fair price. This car is already a year old on paper and needs to be at a 15% discount, which is $59,500 before tax, or walk away. You are better off with a typical forum dealer 7% discount on a new 2016, than paying the "unrealistic" price of $65,500 before tax the dealer wants for their leftover, year old 2015.
Ask the salesperson why the discount on their "year old the day you drive it off the lot" 2015 is less than the discount you can get on a new 2016.

Yeah. totally stumbled on to this. It was a combo of Obama shutting down the dealers in 2010, coupled with they had this Z06 that was sitting in the showroom for almost two years. It had 4 miles on the ODO. It had never been off the showroom floor.
My point is be willing to walk away. They need you more than you need them.

Thousands of Vette's at dealerships around the Country. If you can't get a better deal locally, shop somewhere else.

I for one was at first confused by your opening post. It took me a few readings to figure out that the M.S.R.P. of $69,665 includes all of the options you listed underneath. Before understanding that fact I thought you were crazy; I now know otherwise.
Your offer of $66,000 OTD roughly translates to an actual purchase price of $62,264 less any DMV or doc fees that would need to be accounted for. Invoice on the car is $64,569. It seems to me that if you could land somewhere in the middle (between your offer and the dealer's) the deal would be fair to both sides. Good luck.

Yeah .. it seems the dealer took around 7.5 % off MSRP ... he probably is giving you the GM Supplier price on the car .. I think it should be a better discount than that .. I bet they would take $67,500.

Why do people even waste time will salesmen? Do your homework and call the sales manager directly and discount the sales commission from your offer

If MACMAULKIN is selling it at the price you want buy it there! Ship it down. Maybe the dealer you're at doesn't sell as many vettes as Macmaulkin does so they don't get all the back end money and really can't sell it at your price and lose money..who knows.Who among us will go to work to lose money?

The dealers cost in the car is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the market value of the car. If the dealer feels he can sell a car at a higher price in a reasonable time they can and should turn down a offer. If not then they should take the offer even at a loss.

Selling leftover model years is usually difficult for dealers. .....but there is sucker born every minute. Theirs will come waltzing through the door eventually and plunk down 60 something thousand dollars.
We're just helping the OP make sure it's not him.

WOW....I get the feeling that some of you want the dealer to PAY YOU to take their car....Fact is the dealer ANY dealer is in business to make money just like any other business. Buying a car has been and always will be negotiating for the best deal. If you offer a price and the dealer says NO either you walk away or offer more money....I also assume if there is a trade involved some of you want RETAIL for it....In this day and age ..... there is such a thing as a computer....and it will tell you, if you put the right info into it, what the dealer will sell a car for.....and what your trade in is worth.... use that knowledge to obtain the BEST deal....it is just that simple....GEEESH
