Looking for opinions on a sunshade I found this evening. What do you think, yea, or Nea? Listed at $100 from on-line distributor. Made from Tyvek, and is supposed to block 99% of UV
It's probably effective if it doesn't get windy. Your car better be spotless, and dustless, or it's going to eventually show wear somewhere. Inside windshield, and cargo areas seem a better idea to block the sun.
This isn't even taking into account someone coming along and messing with it, since it's exposed.

I had one like yours for my C5 several years ago and I used it in the summer when I had the transparent top on. It worked great with the car in the work parking lot in the Texas heat. I never had any problem with the wind or anyone messing with it.
I use one on my 'vert, and it's excellent. Goes on and off in maybe 90 seconds each, protects the top, and keeps the interior much cooler. I used one on my Miata for 5 years and had no problems with paint scratching, and I sure didn't keep that car spotless. Never had any problems with wind, either, but I wouldn't use it in a hurricane.
Compared to a full cover, this goes on and off much more quickly. It takes up little room when removed, so you won't be tempted to leave it at home. It fits very snugly when installed properly. It doesn't move around enough to scratch the paint, unlike most full covers which WILL scratch the paint if used on a dirty car as you drag the cover on and off.

If it is functional and you like it, get it. Personally it reminds me of the tarps they lay over fatalities at crash sites, especially the front view. If I were doing it, I would tint windows and get a front windshield screen which installs from the inside. I have a transparent top on my coupe, and I just ordered the cling screen for the inside. But then again, I don't live in the southern part of the country where the heat is much more intense than in the Midwest.
Believe me, a pop top keeps the car much cooler than a windshield sunscreen does. If you're more concerned with your car looking cool for passerby, then by all means ignore this product. But if you want your car to BE cool inside when you climb in, then give this a good look.

I simply turn on my car from my office 5 minutes before I leave and the car is nice and cold! OnStar is great for this option.
I also have tinted glass and windshield sunscreen.

Did the same with a similar mini cover when at work. Parked for years and it looked fine. One of my product managers used a full cover on his C6. What a pain to install when it was windy. Mine was much easier!
I have to laugh at all the people who have never used the product warning about scratches, and ignoring the people who actually have used it. Then again, if having actual knowledge was a requirement to post to the internet 90% of the content would disappear.
Staring your car 5 minutes before you leave is not possible for those with a manual tranny, and not something I would want to do in a lot of locations.
I have one for my `vert and use it every day at work, top or top down.
It does have one shortcoming, in very high winds, like the Santa Anas we get here in SoCal, it tended to come loose. The front is only held down because the cover is placed under the windshield wipers.
I added extra velcro one-wrap straps that wrap around the windshield wipers to hold the front down and now I don't have any more problems in high winds.
All-in-all I'm pleased with it and will continue using it. I did a test and measured the temps one day with my IR thermometer. The car cover keeps the interior to the same temperature as the outside air.
I have a regular car cover and it doesn't work as well to keep the car cooler because it doesn't block the UV like the tyvek does.
I am on my second one. Used on my 13 GS and now on the 15 Z51. All I can say is it works great. In direct sun in South Central Fl no hotter than ambient temperature inside after being parked in direct sunlight for hours. The 13 was Black and currently Shark Gray. Daily driver and it also saves interior. I have liked it enough to repurchase. Wind is to find a way to keep wind from under the part that covers the windshield. The rest is secure up to 30 plus mph winds.
