Update: Traveled out to a custom show car paint shop today for inspection and quotes on getting the night race blue paint defects fixed:

1. $3500 to complete a staged wet sanding and polishing. Process can remove most the orange peel and it will remove some of the clear coat. A experienced body shop worker is needed to reduce loss of too much clear coat and damage. Edges are high damage risk areas.

2. $10,000 to do a detail disassemble, stripping off of paint, and repainting with a car show quality paint job.

I really don't think a C7 is for you.

I'm sorry to hear about your car

Could your awareness of the paint quality change now that this car has malfunctioned as much as it has? All my vettes (4 of them, 2 C5 and 2 C6) and a few GM cars and trucks all had orange peel. Every car I've owned had orange peel. I can't see from the video what you are wanting to point out. Top notch custom paint jobs do not have orange peel, but cars do get it when painted with bots (so I hear).

I don't think the stealer is saying the paint is OK. They probably are aware of the orange peel. If you can prove the cars they have or cars in town at a different stealer do not have the same problems, then they should rectify that. They may have bought cars from a batch of cars having problem paint.

I recall talking with a stealer after the C7 'shipped' (the media and news announcements) but the car was actually delayed getting to the lots (WA state). He said they were having paint quality problems and other quality control problems so no vettes were available yet

I would be mad too if the cars condition and workmanship was worst the the movie that you posted. If it had any more transitions it would start a seizure.

$3,500 to wet sand and polish is absurd. They saw you coming and applied a gigantic Corvette tax.

I was aware of the orange peel but did not expect the dealer not seeing it as a quality failure.

My C5 and C6 both had car-show quality paint. I use to clay bar them every couple of months and spend a whole weekend applying coats of Zaino Brothers car polish. They would blind you in the bright sun.

I had mechanical problems with my C5 rear seal failing and leaking several times and the C6 had the hard top skin glue failure. I expected problems with the C7 too.

The chart image below is the mechanical system "Reliability Bathtub Curve". The C7 is still having issues in the 'infant mortality zone' because all the subsystems don't get enough burn-in time during development. Typical program problems these days with high labor and material costs making managers cut spending in other developmental test areas.

I could of waited two more years, but price, budget, and trade-in value led to the C7's early life purchase. This is all my blame and mine to get fixed.
