Coming back from 3600 mile trip out west, 200 miles to go in Wisconsin and stopped by a State Trooper. Fortunately they were only warnings. I was coming out of a construction zone following trooper, he said I was going to fast, but I was only following him. He wanted to know if I ever got stopped before for no front plate, I sad no, and he just smiled. I think I just got stopped for no front plate, a $150 fine in Wisconsin. Next time I go on trip, I'm going to tie wrap my plate to grill even though it will be behind my Novistretch bra.
One night I was coming back into Fort Worth from College Station after a TX A&M game and the Troopers pulled me over. He came up to the passenger window and listed off all my "violations" Speeding (Yep, but going the same speed as all the other traffic), changing lanes without signaling etc. Then he walked around to the front lf the car and I could see a surprised look on his face when he found my front plate. He was really looking for football fans with a few to many beers in them, I think, because he gave me a warning for all that...

I know a individual here in Wisconsin that just purchased a 2016 ZO6 and his personalized plate reads.... F R O N T......(which is only on the rear of his car. So if he gets stopped and gets asks about the front plate, he will state that he has one! Wisconsin even issue it. Kind of funny when you think about it. I also saw a state owned Wisconsin car with only the rear plate driving down the freeway. They need to get rid of this law in Wisconsin. They don't provide tabs for the rear and front plate, so isn't the front plate invalid?

Governor "Diamond Jim" Doyle wanted to get rid of the front plates in Wisconsin, claimed it would save 800k, but the cops were against it, claimed it help them fight crime.
Two reasons cops like them. 1. Radar reflector on a really stealthy car. 2. Licence plate readers , looking for outstanding citations. Look at the electric show plate. Had one on my C6. Got stopped and while being lectured I was holding the button to extend the plate. You should have seen his face when he walked to the front and saw a plate. Handed me my licence and just walked away.
Stopped for it before once in 2010 warning too, Don't even sweat it any more. No front plate on plenty since. That's why the escort you know if your clocked by electronic means.

Right, "fight crime my a#*", the front plate makes a really good radar reflector, and that ticket is a sure fire revenue generator.
Trying to get rid of them in Wa. State also, but not holding my breath.

That's because most criminals flee the scene in reverse.
do you drive around the city with that screen on or just on the highway?
Sometimes you have to ask yourself if the cure is worse than the ailment.
Its been in several threads on this forum - people purchase them cheap and use them for long road trips (i.e. install before a 3000 mile drive, remove when back from trip)
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

Phew....if someone drove around town with that thing on i would seriously question their sanity.
I have been told that Feds are pushing all states to adopt and enforce front plate requirements. It makes it twice as likely that a security or traffic cam will pick up a readable license plate to help identify bad guys.
In DC they enforce it ruthlessly....even if you are from out of "state" (from a state that requires a front plate and you don't have one...they will write you up).
Any cop who enforces front license plate laws is simply a self serving tool.
The front license plate enables better radar and laser shots. Period. We are talking revenue here folks.
Now, if really concerned with actual law enforcement issues beyond revenue generation, states could just pass a law that anyone convicted of a felony must use front license plates on ANY vehicle they drive subject to a $1,000 fine.
Felon? Can't vote or own a gun and must have front license plates at all times. Automatic advertisement to cops concerned with actual law enforcement that the approaching car has a felon on board.
Otherwise, cops writing front license plate tickets should just admit they are generating revenue to fund their own salaries and overtime.

I also use one for long extended trips. It keeps all the crap out of the radiator area and saves the front end from most chips ect. Its not a cure all but it goes on the car fast and easy and comes off easy to wash it.
In Cali as an LEO we liked the front plate law as pc to stop someone if they were missing the plate. All my cars had front plates on them except for the corvette. Now that I'm in Az we have no front plate law here. Love that. Always pizzed me off drilling into the front bumpers for a front plate. No more!

The document says you were on I 90 and since you say you were 200 miles from Wisconsin, you must have been traveling through the PSRM (Peoples Socialist Republic of Minnesota) and I'm further assuming you are talking about a Minnesota state trooper. If so, you are even more lucky than you thought. It's my experience that those guys seem to never issue warnings. Now, our county deputies (at least where I live) are a different matter. But the Troopers generally seem to not cut any slack.

I've been stopped twice in Texas for no front plate. Warning both times.
