Hear hear! I'm all for the second category within reason. For me, when I get one, it will be a sports car first, taken care of but not turned into a garage queen.
BTW, anyone here used both the floor mats and the floor liners? Do the liners off more protection for the price or are the mats enough?
I have to say Weathertech liners are the best for any car if anyone has in doubt! Being in Michigan the first thing I did was order mats just after I got home from picking up my 2014 Stringray Friday! I had those in my Buick Regal and my wife has in her Regal. Wouldn't chose any other mat!

I don't drive mine in the winter, but I bought them for the summer to protect the carpet. Even in the summer you drag in rocks and other undesirable stuff from the bottoms of your shoes. Cheap insurance and they will pay for them self in resale value of your car down the road.

I have a set of GM Stingray Mats which look great and offer some protection. However, I'm in the process of moving to a new home being built that is surrounded by new construction. Lots of mud etc. The Weathertechs work perfectly offering maximum protection and are easy to clean. I l drive the car all year as well so they are ideal for winter. I haven't used the mats since I put the liners in last October.

I use weathertech in all my cars. I got them just a few days after I got my C7. They fit perfectly in the front and back. I really don’t care for carpeted mats because stuff gets into the fibers and just more of a pain to clean. With weathertech, I just vacuum and I’m done. If I’m feeling peppy, I can take them out and wash them. They dry in minutes compared to carpeted mats. Just a better concept IMO.

I've had floor liners in four vehicles including my C7. They wrap up the sides and do offer more protection. (I have the mats in a Sebring. They are nice but don't cover as much.)
