Differential Fluid Level
I'm really pissed. I bought my base 2014 C7 in June 2014 with 4 miles on the odometer from a dealer whose name I won't mention. I believe that there was a service bulletin out to check the fluid level, perhaps I am wrong.
In any event, since the drive home was 320 mi mostly at night, I specifically asked the service department to check the level in the differential. They said it was OK.
The recent threads here prompted me to investigate the status of my cars diff. It took a full quart to get it to weep out of the fill plug hole. Sickening, that means it was 40% below the full level.
The car has 6700 miles on it. I'm going to ask to have a meeting with the local dealer's service manager and see where to go from here. I'm thinking of asking for them to open the back of the diff to inspect it and have GM extend the warranty on that part. Wonder if it has gotten hot and perhaps compromised the heat treatment of the gears? I'm not qualified to make a judgement on that.
I simply don't understand the selling dealer failing to do a simple task as asked and tell me it was accomplished. Don
Talked to the local dealer's service manager. She was pleasant and cooperative so I expect no roadblocks in getting a competent evaluation of the situation. I made sure she and the shop foreman knew that I had been pleased with past contacts with them and this issue was none of their doing.
Selling dealer may not be happy as I told Chevy Customer service that I didn't like being misled. When told that the diff fluid level had been checked one of three things happened (1) they lied (2) no one checked (3) whoever checked was incapable of performing the task. Don
