Why does climate control turn off when remote start is complete?
Checked the owner's manual and didn't see anything mentioning this:
1. Remote start the car
2. The climate control comes on and starts cooling. It cools because that's the mode last used
3. Enter the car with fob and press the on/off button to complete the remote start process
4. The climate control system shuts off
5. The engine continues to run
Why does the climate control system turn off? When it does I have to immediately turn the system back on due to 100 degree + temperatures here in the desert. That can't be good for the car on every remote start.
Is there a way to complete the remote start process WITHOUT the climate control system turning off? I checked the infotainment system vehicle settings and there's nothing there.
If I have to live with this stupidity, surely GM has a reason? They do, right?
I don't remember mine doing that. I use remote start just about every time I go to a store. I run my AC in a manual mode rather than auto mode. Don't know if that makes a diff. I do remember that the fans, inside and out, seem to run full blast until I complete the start function then they go back to normal, or what I had set them at last for the inside fans.

This sounds like my answer. I also always run it in manual mode. When I turn off my AC I always rotate the fan speed to zero and then press the AC button to shut the system off. Therefore when I press the on/off button after remote start it must be recalling that zero fan speed setting. So the solution is to leave the fans where I typically have it on 2 or notches and only press the AC button to turn the system off. Then when I remote start it should maintain that 2-3 bar fan setting instead of zero I had been dialing in.
Thank you very much this opened my eyes. I'll test this theory today.

I never touch my stuff… How I had it set when the car goes off , is how it turns on , it's always blown cold with remote start. I never use auto in the settings, mines always set for 68 on a/c.
with remote start in my suburban, climate control will sense temps and either go into full AC cooling mode or full heating mode (including seat heat) when the car is remote started. Then when you engage the "key," the car returns to wherever it had been previously set. I think that the vette works the same way, and I think that was what another poster previously stated......
I have a 2015 A8, car is set to Auto AC all the time. Remote start always starts the AC and it always stays on when I get in the car and press the start button.
If yours is turning off there is something not right - could be a SW bug if its repeatable so a FW flash might fix it.

The manual states it reverts to the last setting before you turned the ignition off. Mine seems to do this and it is blowing air but the ac light is not lit until I push the ignition button again to complete the process.
Then everything goes on, the climate control definitely doesn't shut down, if anything it starts up

I think my issue is that I am in the habit of shutting the AC completely off before I turn off the car. So when I get in and hit the start button it reverts to the last state which was off. I'm just uncomfortable laving the AC running and turning the car off, seems wrong to me. It's probably just outdated thinking and I need to get past it.

I noticed the same when I got in it today. The system was on and the air felt cold as if the AC was running but no lights lit at all on the climate control panel. As I stated above mine then turns completely off which makes perfect sense now that I realize why.
why shut the system off before you turn the car off?
Only reason I have is habit. I have it set in my mind that all systems should be turned off before you hit the button to turn the car off. You just power down the car with the AC system running?
I guess this goes back to cars of previous generations where everything was a manual or mechanical system. I'd have to assume the computer in the C7 knows how to handle a power down situation if the AC is running,

I have a M7, so I am screwed. Wish I had remote start. I think the other q is why is remote start only on A8's? Can't it start if the car is in neutral and electronic brake set and not start if it is in an actual gear?

I absolutely love remote start. As much as I vacillated between the A8 and the M7 remote start was not even a thought in my mind to sway me towards the A8. Now that I have it, it's a huge enjoyment that would have weighed heavily in my decision had I realized how awesome it is.
There's nothing like pressing the button and hearing the beast roar to life from across the parking lot.
GM must have a good reason for limiting it to the A8. I'm just not sure what that is. As you said the M7 could require the car to be out of gear and the electronic parking brake to be set in order to engage remote start.

Lol. I'm jealous too, of the manual transmission and third pedal. Each his it's pros and cons. I've always been a manual guy but went auto for once and I am very content.

It's all in my head.
I'm sure your right with habit from older cars.
Yes I do not turn anything off before turning the car off.
Remote start is awesome, pretty much anytime, hot or cold.
I do have an issue though. The cooled seats are supposed to come on automatically when the remote start is used in hot weather, and that option is checked in the cars menu.
I guess 100 degrees in san antonio isn't hot enough for them to automatically come on.
I can't even tell mine are working when I manually turn them on. It's probably related to the 100+ degrees we commonly saw over this summer. I'm thinking they don't do enough to be felt when battling that kind of heat. I wonder if you are experiencing the same problem in simply being able to tell if they are on in these extreme temperatures we are dealing with? I even had them checked when I last had it in for the seat cover replacement and they we're verified to be operating normally.
Kevin, obviously you don't think like a corporate lawyer. The owner's manual tells you to put the car in reverse or first gear when parking. This is to keep the car from rolling in case the ebrake fails. If they allowed the manual cars to be remote started they would have to remove the leave it in gear when parked instructions. The first time an ebrake fails and a car runs over a little old lady, GM gets sued.
