Default Corvette Museum Delivery

Looking for feedback from anyone who has actually done a museum delivery and also has purchased and had delivery from a dealer.
In your opinion, was the quality of the PDI and actual defects or problems with the car been impacted to any degree and if so how much, between the two?
Do the museum people actually detect and either correct themselves, or send back to the factory any problems? I.E. seat memory problems, paint problems, fit and finish etc. or any mechanical problems?

Out of 13 new Vettes since 05, 4 of them have been R8C Museum Delivery.
I've gotten museum delivery and still had a paint flaw, but if it is caught, at least it is in the right place to get fixed. But still, look over your new car before leaving. Some things can be corrected there.
But David's crew does a great job of PDI.

PDI's at the NCM are done by a team that only do Corvette PDIs. Almost all other dealers will perform far more PDIs on pickup trucks, Malibu's, etc. than they do on Corvettes. I'd consider the NCM crew Corvette PDI experts. They sign the underbody of every car they do.

Besides the PDI, my assigned Delivery Team member was very thorough in going over the vehicle operation, options, etc. Again, they are dedicated to delivering Corvettes and only Corvettes.

A little known fact - a Corvette with R8C (NCM Delivery) has a notice identifying it as an NCM Delivery travel along with the vehicle through the assembly process. Sure, it doesn't guarantee that your car will be perfect, but I believe they do generally pay a little closer attention to such vehicles.

I had heard that notice on the assembly line also. Thank you for verifying. It does give a more comforting feeling.

Did you have to catch the paint flaw? Or did the delivery team?

My 2015 vert was a NCM delivery. At first the trunk opened, but after a few openings it quit working. They tried fixing it at the museum but finally had to take it back to the factory. After an hour I got it back and has worked ever since.

I took delivery of my TR 3LT Vert two weeks ago at the Museum. I thought I had a flaw in the paint in the corner of the trunk. Turned out it was nothing more than a build up of detailer/polish or whatever they used to shine it up. The excess gathered in that corner and "hardened up" In any case the morning of delivery one of the detail men cleaned it right up. Rest of the car was SPOTLESS ....Inside and out....and I cannot say enough about the VIP Factory Tour....It was amazing.

If the Museum PDI crew finds the flaw during prep, you will never even know about it. It will be fixed prior to delivery day. Only if they miss something and you or the delivery specialist find it, will the fix take place on delivery day.

Just for info, of the last 4 new vette, 2 dealer delivered and 2 Museum delivered.

I've done R8C twice (2001 & 2015 - July this year). I never had something that was given to me that should have been caught with the PDI. I've also done a courtesy delivery and one off the lot. Neither of those had any issues that should have been caught in the PDI.

There is another thread where I guy did his R8C in July or something. There was something he saw on his car the night before and got wigged out. He let Shane know and it was resolved (turned out that it just needed to have some product removed). There was other instances I have heard where Shane took the car across the street to the factory and got it resolved on the spot.

So, my vote for the absolute best service is from R8C. Plus it is a lot of fun!

That was ME that got wigged out....got there the afternoon before delivery after the detail people had gone home...and yes it was resolved the next morning first thing...

I have to believe that a car destined for museum delivery will receive the utmost attention in build. Regardless of that, I would LOVE the experience.

I certainly enjoyed my experience there. Any and all questions / concerns (concerns were not vehicle-related) I had were quickly and expertly addressed. Car has been absolutely trouble-free through just over 4,000 miles. Had to drive back home during cold weather (18 degrees when leaving BG), but trip back to Maryland was wonderful.

As we all know, this is an exceptional vehicle.

I did he Museum delivery on my 16 Z06. I really loved the R8C experience. Obviously if your PDI is done by a crew that only does Corvettes all day long there is less chance of something being missed. There is no service manager hovering over a PDI tech trying to get him onto installing a bedliner on a pickup or something.

Also the detail and method of explaining all of the features is done perfectly and they take the time to answer all your questions clearly. on a C7 this is no small task.

Just before we were going to drive out, my girlfriend noticed a flaw on the leather dash panel passenger side. We pointed it out and they gave us a warranty claim form to take to a dealer. I haven't done it yet,it seems to be repairing itself as it spends more time being warmed by the sun.

Having said all that, my last car a 2103 Z07 was delivered by Hendricks in Duluth, GA. It was a dealer trade, but there were no PDI issues and they really made me feel like a VIP on delivery day. The cars was totally detailed and parked right out front, several managers come out and shook my hand and complimented the car. There was not much need for any orientation since I was coming out a C6 Z06 already, but my salesman Chris Lindamood made sure I had no questions before we drove off. It was a great delivery, but the Museum delivery is well worth the cost.

So it sounds like the Museum delivery may have a better chance of a quality product being delivered than a dealer delivery. If I understand the consensus.
Thank you all for your observations.

Default Huh?

The museum delivery experience has absolutely ZERO association with a 'quality product' delivery. It is a very special option...and worth the price.

Have owned 6 Corvettes. First museum delivery was in May. All my future Corvettes will be collected there. Guaranteed.

Peace, out.

My vote is for museum delivery. This is my 4th Vette, first R8C. Awesome experience, I highly recommend.
