Considering a jump from my C6 GS to a C7
I took a couple of C7 test drives today. One with a Z51/Mag Ride and the other without either. The Z51/MRC car seemed to give a better feel for the road, like I had total control of all four wheels. The non Z51 car felt more like my C6 Grand Sport. The dealer attributed the better feel for the Z51 car to the different tires telling me that unless I plan to track the car that there was no need for me to spend the extra money on the Z51. Maybe he is right but the Z51 sure has a lot of nice goodies.
I imagine there are opinions all over the place on this one. Of course one highly contributing factor will be what the dealer wants to give me for a trade in on my 2010 Grand Sport convertible.
I must say that it feels like more than a 30 hp difference between my LS3 and the LT1.

You only live once - if the budget allows, go for the C7.

Z51/MRC opinions?

My car has both, I liked the Z51 for appearance options (which you can get without the Z51 now) but also the better brakes and suspension bits. Also the dry sump and more aggressive gearing. I do track my car occasionally. The mag ride is also very cool because it really does make it way easier to drive on crappy roads in tour mode. Once you are on smooth roads and want the handling back just throw it in track and your golden.

I'm not sure if i will ever track my car but the Z51 sure does drive nice. I like having functional scoops, the better brakes, and as mentioned the appearance. Mine isn't a DD so im okay without MRC, though it would have been nice if it had it i suppose.
I loved my C6 and my C5 before it, however, neither car was this car. The attention you will get on the road is crazy. I get from guys driving Lambo's if you can believe that. What a feeling. As mentioned..you only live once...so if you get the chance just DO IT.

had both,,,,,, love the c7 a lot more for technology and yes it is faster. the direct injection is more responsive for sure and the launch control on these things you can outrun about anything from a standing stop......... the C6 I added a lot of stuff to (headers, cat back, ported intake, CAI, and a great tune and a few tricks to) and I blew it away last week, my buddy bought it.
It had more HP then the C7 I have now (think all the stuff I did put me around 490-500) but they cant get traction and jumping a car by 2-3 links is tuff to make up

I think your salesman gave you good advice. However if you like the Z51/MRC package and you think it is worth the extra money then go for it. My opinion is the same as your salesman.

As a former GS 4LT owner, IMO, there is no comparison between my previous GS and my C7 Z51. The improvement in performance, exterior, and interior of the C7 is well worth the upgrade. If your budget allows it, make the switch to the C7, you will be happy you did!

I had a GS and still have a C5 as well as a 15 Z06. All have or had adjustable suspension. Think you will find it more enjoyable in the long run. Good luck on your decision.

Went from a 13 GS Cpe to a 15 Z51. Stasek Cevrolet has a you tube video on the major differences. Direct injection has a quicker response to me. Like the A8 also. Mine does not have mag ride but to me but I like the firmer ride.

Mostly been said but my 2 cents. I have owned 1962, 1974, 1998, and 1911. Moved from 2011 C6 Base Car to 2015 C7 Z51, 3LT A8. Loved each car at the time but favored newer cars improvements over prior ones. I understand the inside cabin filter and the removable hard top lock down levers are the only parts GM used in transition from C6 used in C7. All new Corvette. Of course I went from base car to 3lt Z51 but the difference in ride, acceleration, handling, interior, technology and over all features is huge in a positive way. Some guys have had a few issues like over heating with C7 after hard driving which is discussed on the forum. I don't track my car and have had no issues. My C7 has every option but Mag Ride. Z51 was a must have for me although probably not needed. Corvette has great suspension and stability controls so the absence of Mag Ride while a nice option was not a deal breaker. Go for it.

Just sold my supercharged '12 GS, and am going to pick up my '16 Z51 at the Museum on Tuesday.
We've had the wife's '14 Stingray coupe for 15 months and over 20k miles now, so lots of experience with both.
The C7 coupe is awesome, and if not tracking you would be fine without the Z51 package. There is no comparison between the C6 and the C7. Once you've spent time in the Stingray, the C6 does indeed feel "obsolete" or antiquated.

After having the car since May this year I'm still noticing how much better this car is than the C6. Interior, exterior, overall driving experience, it feels like a more refined sports car. I didn't need the Z51, MSRC package, because I'll only drive it on the street. I wanted it, and I'm glad I got it. In track mode, when I want to push it in the twisties it feels like it's glued to the road. In tour mode the ride is noticeably less harsh than my C6 was on roads that are less than perfect, which is all of them where I live. I've got to believe that the only people that regretted buying the C7 are the folks that put themselves in a financial bind when they bought it. And the one's who were unlucky enough to get a car with major problems straight from the factory.

I am going to come back
Had to sell my C6 Z06 a couple of years ago for financial reasons. Took several test drives yesterday in the new Z51 equipped stingrays. Wow the interiors are so much more inviting. Found there are a lot of 2014's very lightly used out there on the market, due to people up trading into the new Z06's. Glad I waited till now. Going to save $15K on a like new stingray I think.
Seriously though I found a 2010 C6 Z06 with 1100 original miles on it! The feel of that LS7's power is still awesome.

Traded my 07 convertible last month on a new 15 Z-51 A8 coupe. The new Vette is so far ahead of the 07. This is my 25th Corvette and the best I have ever owned!!!
