The need for speed
I guarantee the majority of you reading this "THINK" you are a much better driver that you really are. The performance level of the newer Vettes are soooo much higher than owners want to admit; far higher than the knowledge you glean from just a couple of track weekends. After many events (years), working your way up through the run levels you'll loose the feeling for the need to punch it on public roads just to satisfy an ego.
Play it safe, leave the ego at home and check out the Track Day Driving schools in your area..... after a few years of tracking (track schooling) you will look back and see what I'm talking about and how dumb it was to endanger other people on public roads.
Hope to see you at the track;

Having track days has helped me to have a clean driving record for at about 15 years. Yeah, I still do what I call spirited driving, but nothing excessive and I am very selective about when & where.
A friend of mine who belongs to PCA - West MI Chapter got me started in track days when I had my '07 GT500. The PCA rents out Grattan Speedway (featured in Car & Driver, Road & Track and is used my car manufacturers for testing) every September. I've been going there for 6 years now. They do other tracks as well and there are always Mustangs, Corvettes, BMWs, etc with many P cars, of course.
Check out track days - drivers schools and see how you like it. I think it's very good advice!
On ramps? Heck yes, but I'm back to the freeway speed limit when the ramp ends and only if I'm the only one on the ramp.
Still, track instruction and a few open track straight aways would do me best.
Thanx all for the ideas.
