Default Tracking a C7 Corvette

So I am tracking C7/ 2014 Corvette about 3 to 4 times a year. What is the best track pad you found? what is the best brake fluid? Here is my July 2015 Road America track video with Forum member, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...0-jgaffin.html

That looks like so much fun. Thanks for posting. Looked like you were hitting 140mph Plus on the str8. That is rolling.

What are you looking for? max performance or improved performance that can be used with stock tires? What tires are you using? What characteristics do you like in brakes?

I really like hawk DTC60's and 70's but you need some more tire for them to work well without getting into the ABS a lot. They're noisy and dusty too but they work well at high speeds and have great initial bite and awesome braking torque. You need an improved tire to use them effectively.

So, it's really about what you want to do and how hard you want to push. Not everyone will or has the desire to run the snot out of their car and thats cool. Figure out if you just want better pads or if you're going to buy new wheels, tires, and brakes.

Ate TYP 2 brake fluid has been good for me. No fade and no pedal problems. I've had it in since 500 miles and have done numerous auto crosses and track events using it.

Best fluid is Castrol SRF. What tires are you using on track?

Improved performance. Simple add ons.

My buddy told me I could cut the weight in the car, As he told me I should lose weight.

Does a new air induction really add anything? Something where as I could get a bit more power. At Road America, I hit 147mph on the front straight away.

I think I got the brakes the way I want them. I have carbotech XP12s in the front and currently XP8s in the rear. when the XP's wear out I will replace them with XP10s in the rear.

is the Brake fluid you use ATE? I assume it is a good track fluid

This is primarily a street car. Not a dedicated track car. I use Stock Michelins.

If I am correct the Castrol is 80 dollars a pint. If it last for a couple years maybe but I would think I would need at least 2 pints to do a fluid change.

Yes. The ATE fluid was recommended by John Heinricy. He ran the GM performance division for quite a while and cited that the ATE never resulted in seal degradation and failure as he has seen in others. So far, every recommendation of his has been spot on. Plus, the stuff is like $20 a pint. For an occasional track visit, I'm sure it would be just fine so long as you keep up on bleeding the brakes regularly.

Yes SRF is expensive. You asked for the best. It should last a season if maintained.

Brembo LCF600 LCF600 is the newest brake fluid on the market. Excellent choice for track use. Proven low compressibility. It gives a firmer pedal feel then most other brands. Dry: 316°C (601°F)
Wet: 204°C (399°F) 16.9oz/ .53 quarts
.50 Liter/ 500ml $19.95

CASTROL SRF The SRF is the absolute best brake fluid on the market, period. If you want the best the Castrol SRF is it. Due to it's extremely high dry & wet boiling points. Dry: 310°C (590°F)
Wet: 270°C (518°F) 1 Liter $79.95

MOTUL RBF600 The world's best selling brake fluid. Developed for all forms and levels of racing, the RBF600 is one of the most popular fluid's on the market today. Dry: 312°C (594°F)
Wet: 216°C (421°F) 16.9oz/ .53 quarts
.50 Liter/ 500ml $22.50

I use Motul RBF600. I have driven my bone stock GS around Road America an estimated 180 laps in the last 14 months and I have never once had brake fade. I'd say I drive the car about 9/10ths (consistent 2:45 lap times). As posted prices above indicate, I pay around $20/pint and bleed out old and add new regularly. Road America is as fun as it gets! On the downside, it totally ruins street driving from that day on.

So me and buddy just got back from the Corvette fest at Blackhawk farms raceway over the weekend. I put the Gopro camera under the front nose piece in front of the front air dam. here is a YouTube video . I put the micro taped under the hood to attempt to get rid of wind noise
