Is it possible to change the lower limit of the windows when the doors are open? I've noticed the doors on my 16 are significantly harder to close with the windows up versus when I lower them 3 inches before getting out of the car (keep car in garage with windows slightly down usually). The windows appear to be lowering slightly when the doors open as they are designed but, just a guess, my doors close hard because there is no where for the air to go as the windows are still up enough to seal against the weather stripping. So, can I adjust the lower limit of the window indexing? And I would thought there was some other place to vent the interior air when costing the doors but maybe there isn't, any one know? And is this normal behavior? Thanks
The indexing is what it is. You can make sure yours is actually indexing correctly by following the instructions in the dreaded Owner's Manual.
CRIB NOTES: Pull up on the lever for at least 3 seconds after being fully closed.
I think part of what you are experiencing is just the fact that this is a super-tight vehicle.
Relative to your final question, you are probably thinking of the rear "smart wire" vent in 2014 and 2015 models that was supposed to vent air when closing the hatch. It worked well in some cars, but not in others, and was replaced in 2016 models by a latching motor.
Appreciate the responses. Yeah the smart wire vent is what I was thinking of. Guess I thought the auto latch was an addition to it no a replacement for it.
In addition to the smartwire vent, there is at least one other 1-way vent in the rear of the C7 coupe. Two, I think, but I'm not sure.
But you might want to ask your dealer if there's an adjustment. I haven't seen a lot of complaints about the doors being hard to close. Only the hatch.
Maybe try closing the door by grasping the silver door latch. It looks like it could be greasy but it's not. I started doing this to minimize finger prints, but was surprised how much easier it is to close the door. You just put your index finger in the "loop" and give a small tug and the door easily closes.
