I was told that on a Z51 with MRC, it is possible to be in sport mode but have the exhaust in track mode. Is this true, and, if so, how is the setting done?

If you use the infotainment and go into the settings, there should be a sound management mode. Set it to track.
Exhaust has nothing to do with MSRC. If you have NPP (depends on model year if it was part of Z51 option or not), you can change the setting in Settings > Driving Mode > Engine Sound Management > (various options - again, depend on model year which options are available).

No matter how you set it the exhaust valves will still close on their own unless you pull the fuse, # 42 in the under hood fuse box.
I got sick of them closing just when I wanted the sound of my exhaust, now the fuse is pulled they are open all the time the sound of the engine makes the car sound like it should.
If I wanted it to sound like a Cadillac I would have bought one.

On my 2016, when I have them set in track or sport mode they are always open. The car never sounds like a Cadillac unless I switch modes. Must be different for 2016's.
