Default Cleaning a black C7.. Advice needed

Need advice, first black car since 1978. Now I remember why I haven't bought one since.

I need advice on the easiest way to get the car clean and not have smudge marks and have a glass like finish ever time.

My 2016 C7 has 600 miles on it and I really haven't washed it yet, but I recall being frustrated when I cleaned my 78 Z28. Advice on technique and prude re would be appreciated.

Give me more info. What year how many miles? Does it need paint correction? First time detailing? You can google junk man videos and he has a lot of good info. Also check out Adam's polishes videos. I can give you some info but I need more.

The paint has some orange peel, but nothing out of the norm. I'm just trying to determine the easiest way to keep it looking like glass. Black is a beautiful color but it's all in the details.

You said the magic word - DETAIL !! that is, I (personally) would seek out the opinion/assistance of an experienced detailer. You are almost certainly in a position to have he car clay barred, or perhaps ever wet-sanded prior to beginning what will surely be a multi-stage polishing effort, sealing, and so on.

Let's just hope there's enough "clear" left intact to prevent having to repaint the worse areas.

Good luck, my friend !!

I had a 2008 C6, black on black. Here is what I found to work best.
1. After washing & drying, I used ProtectAll (you can get this at WalMart).Takes about 20 minutes to do whole car. Wipe on wet & immediately wipe off with clean flannel cloth or old pair of PJ's.
2. Then I sealed the wax/finish with Ultima Paint Guard Plus+. Just spray on the provided applicator and wipe a very light coat over whole car & let dry. Seals everything for about 6 months.
3. Day to day I would wipe off the dust with a California CarDuster.
4. For the interior leather you cannot beat Ziano's Leather In A Bottle. Just apply a dab to a clean dry cloth and apply to your leather interior and let dry.

There is nothing more stunningly beautiful than a clean, newly waxed black Corvette. But, they are a daily labor of love.

Good Luck, and, post some pics.

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice.

Do the coatings such as CQuartz have any downside?

Black is beautiful but my last black car was 30 years ago when I didn't mind the attention it required after every use. Good luck, there is plenty of free advice on this forum.

This is good general advice, and search wolfdogs on the C6 forum. That man was a beast on his black Vette.

Okay.... no surprise here.....clean often. LOL.....I'm in the same boat...a black C7 and I love it when she is clean! I use the Glenne method to clean and wax/seal....works great. Look him up on this thread....pm him and he will send you pdf's that are very helpful.

two words... waterless. wash. This and 2 packs of these. Soap and water hasn't touched my car in over a year.

It's a light daily driver and I have it detailed once a year.

Black certainly looks great, but does take continual care to keep clean and shiny looking. I use Chadwick's Triple Play, a waterless product that gives a great shine.
