Barrett-Jackson 2015

They are not in the industry to set value on vehicles, like the Dupont Registry or something. They are just in business to move inventory. They are auctioneers. What I like about them is the inventory they do move - without reserve. An average person can go to one of their events and buy or sell and average car at a descent price. And if you go to the right event (not in Scottsdale or Monterey) you can usually get it for less than it's worth. Plus, legs...

For those who did not follow the auction...it was a '16 Z06, VIN #1. Yes, it was for charity. If the car is not driven, it will NEVER go down in value. Every VIN #1 Corvette in history has skyrocketed in value.
I have never heard BJ Auctions claim that their vehicle values have any bearing on daily drivers. So, you are correct, they have no bearing on YOUR car, or MY car, but they are 100% spot on for the vehicle they were selling, as proven by the bid amount. If you were to own a vehicle that is identical in EVERY regard to one that sold on BJ for "X" amount, yours undeniably has a similar value, if sold at a BJ auction. To say otherwise is to dismiss the auction results entirely. Yes, it is entertainment, and it is also reality.
It is not intended to imply that your C7 is worth $500,000, nor anyone else's.
BJ auction vehicles have little bearing on values of normal, street-driven cars. But, those are not the cars for sale. You have to compare apples to apples...
Had this car not been for charity do you really think it would've fetched 500k, not a chance so NO, BJ Auctions has no baring on any car's value, not mine, not yours, not any rare vehicle that crosses it's block. I've never heard of someone comparing their car to one that crossed BJ's saying "well at BJ a 1955 300 SL fetched 3 million"...no one uses BJ as a gauge as to what vehicles are worth....at least no one who is seriously into buying and selling cars.
BJ is a circus that just happens to auction cars, it's very entertaining and some what educational but only in the sense that the commentators list off interesting facts about cars that cross the block but that's it.

They usually don't attract those kinds of buyers/sellers.
That's more Mecum, Manheim, Luxury, Sotheby, etc.
