Default Ventilated seats

I've had heated seats before but never ventilated/cooled seats. Are the ventilated seats available in the 2LT trim actually cooled with A/C air or just ambient air? How do people with this feature like the ventilation, does it make a big difference on hot days?

The vented seats are available in both 2LT and 3LT. They don't use A/C air just ambient air.

It's the first car that I have owned that has vented seats and I love them. When it is hot I find that it really helps reduce/remove the sweat on my back. I'm very happy with them.

Even the heated seats work great for me...I have read so many threads about heated/ventilated seat problems!

You get better cooling affects if you have the a/c blowing through the foot vents cuz the fan gets colder air directed at it.

The vented seats on my 2014 3LT trim with alcantara inserts work great - I can really feel the air blowing. On a friend's 2014 3LT trim you can't feel it as much - they don't have the inserts.

There are fans that blow cabin air thru perforations in the seat on the bottom and back. They are effective, once the AC is blowing cool air under the seat area can feel it quickly. However there is a ~1/4 inch thick layer of open mesh material under the leather to disperse the air. Unfortunately the mesh acts as an insulator and delays heat so many have complained. I find it can take 10 minutes to feel the heat but they eventually get hot and I have to turn it down. Below are pics from a Car & Driver video discussing the C7 seats.

Thick Open Mesh Behind Leather Delays Feeling Heat

They work great for me even though I live in the Florida Inferno. I have other cars with real cooled seats and the Vette is just as good as those somehow. Even though I hear a lot of people complain about them.

To me it seems the ventilated seats, even with the AC directed to the floor, feel good for about 5 minutes then it seems like nothing is on.

Sans all the grumbling I find that my vented seat work well, living in Austin where it gets rather warm in the summer tests the system and after the car cools a bit they really cool the backside.
I have had no problems with the cooling affect even when the a/c is blowing from the dash vents.
The vented seats are standard equipment in the 2-3 lt trim levels.

Same thing here. You don't really feel the air blowing, just the temperature difference. I guess once that difference stabilizes, it doesn't feel 'cool' anymore. Either that or it's just trying to **** me off.

Here in South Central FL the vented seats work great and any more cooling would be too cool for me. Heated seats are not a big deal to people in our area but they were nice to have when we drove to MI last year for Christmas in my wife's Durango.

Drove a C7 from Memphis TN to my home a couple of weeks ago and that car had the ventilated seats. Loved them. The cooling effect came on almost instantly and felt great.

Maybe the temperature has stabilized and the cooling is just not as apparent. I love mine!

It is my understanding that the ventilated seats pull air into the seats not blow air out. That way your body heat is pulled away from you.

That information is incorrect... It has been confirmed that they blow, not suck.

The seats most likely use a TED, which is vulnerable to heatsoak and diminished performance if the exhaust / intake is not properly designed.

I have a C6 so no ventilated seats, but my 2015 F150 has this problem and there was a redesign and TSB to fix it.

Answering the OPs original question - the ventilated seats work great, especially in a convertible. My butt would sweat constantly in my previous vette (C5) on hot days, but even though the C7 ventilated seats recycle ambient air, the difference is quite noticeable. I would have preferred the default fan setting to be "on" rather than "off", but that is just my personal preference.

The ventilated seats work great to provide air circulation (whatever temperature it is) and are certainly better than nothing at all. But your are not going to get refrigerated air blowing on you.
