Hi everyone
I had the u fortunate experience finding a pretty good sized scratch on my c7 today. Looks like it could have been caused by a key, or s
Shopping cat or something. Wondering if anyone out there has any tips on a DYI products. If not may have to take to a body shop. Thanks
Its hard to tell with just a picture. I'd seek out a good detailer first and get his/her opinion. Maybe they can buff it out, maybe make it look good enough you won't want to risk making things worse with paint problems. If they can't help then look for a good body man. This is a fear we all share, sorry it happened.
Doesn't appear to have been done with a key. The scratch in the middle of your picture looks to me like some sort of impact, (hard to tell from the picture), like a the shopping cart you mentioned. I would take it to a reliable body shop and get an opinion. If it were mine, I would not screw with it myself. JMO.
Part of that mark looks like it is impressed into the paint and the door panel. The dark marks should polish out but the small indentation may need further attention.

Try some Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 or a good cleaner wax.
Polish out what you can. Many careful applications of touch up paint (filling the cavity in the scratch) and polishing between coats, will make the mark almost invisible. I marked my own car door in the garage last fall, I worked on the scratch and if you don't know it is there you'll never know. Good luck, happy motoring!

I always try and park several spots away but people seem gravitated to park right beside me. I ordered a chemical guys kit will try to get rid of the black marks. Will be worked for the winter shortly so will have lots of time to work on it. Thanks for the help
Just about all of that will be able to be removed with a polish. The gouge in the center looks like you will need to fill it in with multiple coats of touch up paint then do a very minor wetsand with 2000 grit sandpaper then buff out and you will never see it.

Perhaps you'll get lucky and it can be buffed out.
