True, but you can always ignore their contacts. I get notices from my selling dealer on current and previous cars I have owned and some of them have some decent coupons for services.
I never used it in the 14 nor did i even have any contact with them in any way.I got some mail with pricing and DAMN! Their prices went thru the roof!!
I recently let my OnStar subscription expire. Tried to renew the same plan at the same rate three times, obtained verbal agreement three times,
but couldn't get them to send me a bill (which had been occurring annually in the past). Finally told them to cancel completely.
The OnStar cost is now more that the related insurance discount, so I'll now adjust that as well.
I have a 2014 and got the same notice today. I do not ever renew. All I really want is the remote access anyway. Don't use the services they just added.
I got the largest package for 235 for the year. Going to drop it after the year is out. I never use directions or the minutes. I will keep the basic service on my son's Cruze so I can lojack his ***

$235? ... aka that's better than what I just saw via email for largest package at $269. My trial expires 12/26.
Pretty sure the price has dropped since the last flurry of emails.
It also allows you to send destinations to your navigation from the phone app. This is actually a very big plus for me as I use it a lot!
However you cannot send it from a web site (Stupid) nor can you have Google Maps shoot the address to your car (unless and until Android Auto hits (I hope)). Nor can you send a multi way point route and remember, only the last one sent will be received by the car. So if you send say Home address then Work address, all you'll see is Work address when you get in the car.
On and don't forget having to hit send twice (Stupid)
Oh and does anybody know if I drop Onstar, will the app still work? If not, what's the minimum Onstar plan such that I can still send directions to my car?
