Do people just hate Corvettes or something? This is the 3rd keying incident on the forum recently, makes me nervous!! I park in a garage at night but it could happen anywhere

I have had my car keyed two times so started listening and with encuragement have heard people that have done this express several things.
most is a: i can't have one so take this you rich *** hole . See I can teach you / get you back, by breaking your toy
sometimes for parking in two spaces no matter how far away from store door
Sad... I jest call them 'haters' now
i literally feel pain when i see this. i actually do. 9/10 corvettes that get keyed or damaged arent from vendetta but more of jealous people. I pray that justice will find these low lives. I personally know for a fact that my c7 will get violated if i parked outside my neighborhood. Thank god for garages
Been going on with nice cars in the 35 years I've been driving, you just see it more with the internet and cell phones.
Pissed off ex-whatever, driver doing something that pissed someone off (perceived or real) and some people just dont think anyone should have something nicer than them. What better target than a nice car sitting alone in a parking lot. Not to mention the same kind of people who think its OK to spray paint everything in sight or throw rocks at police..
I've been lucky, parked nice Vettes, BMWs, Mercedes etc wherever I would any other car and the only car I ever had keyed was an IROC Z28 back in the 80s, when it was parked in front of a Chicago police station of all places..

I think this is just the sign of the times and the horrible, political correct entitlement era we live in.
Growing up, I was taught to respect other people's privacy and property. My parents had blue-collar jobs and taught me the right values. When I was young and saw a really nice car, my response was someday I will have a car like that, not damn, I want to damage it! I put myself through college and then through grad school and have enjoyed a successful career in tech. As a result, I appreciate the good things in life that I can afford. The only thing I love in this life are people although I really, really, really like Corvettes and other fine cars so it really bugs me that losers who blame everyone else for their problems perform these cowardly acts of vandalism to "get even" in their sick, little minds.
As a Corvette owner, you need to get used to both the positive and negative attention you receive. Stay well-insured and try to avoid negative road confrontations. The owner of the juiced up Honda Civic you just blew away at the last stop light might remember your car/plate and take out his frustration the next time he sees your car in a dark parking lot.
It is not a sign of the times, growing up in a nice small town of 25,000 in Iowa we had scum bags who keyed cars, shot out windows with BB guns and would knock down mail boxes.
This was a town of mixed blue collar and farm workers along with wealthy business owners. The thing was that almost all were taught to respect others and their property...but being taught to and doing are two different things.
The police caught a couple of the dolts, both of whom were from upper class family's...they had to pay for the damage they caused by working for the people whose property they damaged. Doubt that that would happen today. They would put them on probation at best and more than likely just slap their wrist and admonish them.
It is a shame that these things happen and it is disturbing to see it.
Not too long ago here in Texas I know 3 teens were caught pushing over brick mailboxes in the area and the judge ordered them to pay for the mailboxes and perform some hours of service for each of the homeowners. One of the guys put in entirely new front landscaping on the backs of those boys. I felt the punishment fit the crime for sure.
I don't understand keying a car like this though - that looks so personal, might be the owner knows the vandal.
Unfortunately this kind of crap happens every day and has been for years. Punks and scumbags are everywhere and never seem to get caught.
There is a mentality in this country that makes people who have less hate the ones who have. Most of us worked hard to be able to afford our vettes and don't owe an apology to anybody and don't deserve the envy that makes a few creaps do this stuff

Indeed, luckily Corvettes are plentiful around here (along with just about every other high-end import and domestic) but they still attract a lot of attention - good and bad.

Came out of a grocery store Sunday and there was this old guy standing behind the car. After a few words, as he said goodbye he said, Be careful there are a lot of guys out there that would love to ding this car up.
I thought, what a weird thing to say to a total stranger. He wasn't a Car Guy, so it wasn't like it might have happened to him. I wondered if he was the kind of guy that damages cars like ours. Kinda creepy.
