Not good. Normal driving or track time? This is disturbing if it was normal driving. I drove a couple "spirited" laps at VIR and my tranny (A8) did heat up a bit but never got any type of warning. I was shifting manually using the paddles.
A6, Z51. This happened at tail of the dragon. Outside temp was mid 60's
Wow, I blasted my '14 regular C7 A6 through the dragon many times when it was in the 90s (I have to drive it to get to a job often) and never seen the trans temp warning. It was during the week with no one around and I was on it pretty hard, but it was only one way since the return trip was several hours later.
I never did pay attention to the trans temp gauge though, not sure how hot the trans got..

hmm...interesting. Were you using the paddles? in track mode? The only other cars I've driven hard through the dragon was a nsx which never had this kind of issue and a '12 bmw 650 but it did not handle the curves well so I didn't drive it very hard.

I used the paddles in track mode, it was a non-z51 so the tires were a limiting factor but I was on it hard and kept the RPM up pretty high. This was before I was reading about people overheating the trans so I never paid any attention to the trans temp and didnt try anything to keep it cool.
I sold the '14 around 8 months ago and I'll have a '16 8 speed non-Z51 (with mag ride and the z51 wheels/tires) here tomorrow so I'll pay attention to the trans temps next time I'm on the dragon.
AFAIK, I was the first to try and track a C7 Z51 A6 and the trans overheated in a little over 10-minutes during 2 or 3 sessions. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...this-week.html
So yes, they'll overheat very easily on-track and you can probably do it in certain areas on the street. FWIW...the cooling upgrades GM did for the A8 in the Z06 are VERY effective and trans temps are not an issue. I thought GM was going to offer a retrofit package and think there is more info in the Ask Tadge section.

My 2005 MN6 Z51 just had this message warning and its getting fixed as we speak. The dealer told me that there is a fault/short in the ECM and need a new one. Cost $1,100 to fix out of my own pocket. Wasn't driven hard at all , the car was just idling. So it was not an overheating issue but rather a short circuit. The warning light comes off and on intermittently.
