I've looked in the regular manual and in the Infotainment System manual but cannot find information about some things in the car such as the exhaust sound. Today a friend of mine uncovered a section on the exhaust sound and I set the mode to stealth. But in what manual is that covered?
Sure enough I do see that in the manual though it doesn't go into detail about the different modes and what they do such as describe the stealth mode.
Guess I need to read the manual while sitting in the car.
Thanks for the reply!!
Ironically, the manual is not up to date on the modes of this feature. It lists only Auto and Off. It was this way in 2014 and then updated to what you see in 2015. The manual was never updated.
Stealth keeps the NPP valves closed up to 4K+ RPM. Auto follows the driving mode dial. Touring, Sport, and Track get gradually more aggressive and opens my the valves lower in the RPM band. Track leaves them open much of the time, but they still close at times to meet federal pass by noise requirements. Depending on manual or auto transmission will also affect this. Play around and see what you like. Personally I pulled the NPP valve fuse since I want it loud all the time with no intervention. Otherwise, it seems to me Stealth and Track would be the only needed settings. Loud or quiet. And you can switch the engine sound management on the fly.
Stealth>?? That's an option on the dial in my 14 base suspension car?
No... Suspension has nothing to do with it. Nor does the dial for Stealth mode. You need to have the performance exhaust (NPP) option. The Stealth option was added to Engine Sound Management in 2015+ NPP cars as well as the other unlinked modes.
Looks like I have the NPP alright. Again, I don't remember that being one of the options and I thought I had gone over the options pretty carefully. Oh well, water under the bridge. I guess if people don't like quiet cars they should never buy a Tesla.

The NPP comes standard with the Z51 since 2015 (and all Z06). Optional on 2014 Z51 and on non-Z51 since 2014.
Well that explains that. I got the Z06. No wonder I never saw the option.
I didn't like all the black areas on the car either, spoiler, lower rear, grilles, etc. so I had them painted to match the body color. Some people like it and some don't but I didn't want a two toned car, black and white so now it is mostly white.
Non NPP are like pipes and NPP are like trumpets-I too bought em for the looks, although can be fun to play with from time to time.
When I accelerate with the NPP on stealth, it seems like sophisticated power but when I accelerate with NPP set to track, it sounds like an underpowered noisy 4 cylinder being strained. Not a big fan of noise.
Just curious . . . what prompted you to purchase a Z06?
I had always wanted a Corvette but the regular Corvettes were so common I wanted either a Z06 or a ZR1. But I also like convertibles and GM never made a convertible Z06 before. And my wife can't drive a manual transmission so the Z06 having an automatic helped sell her on the Z06. So now I finally have my white Corvette convertible with a red interior. On my way now to see about getting a radar detector installed in the car to include a laser jammer/shifter/blocker/scrambler
