Rear Differential Replacement
To start off, I am no gear-head by any stretch of the imagination. I've had my C7 for almost 2 years now without many issues, but unfortunately experiencing some problems in the last few weeks.
It started out with a simple, "Rear Axle System turned off," warning sign. I got home checked the manual, and it said that sometimes it overheats and to let the car cool down and see if it happens again.
Waited until next day, went for a drive and sure enough it did it again. Called for an appointment and got in a few days later. They had it for a day or two and said that it was just a bad connection and that they replaced it and it's fine.
Fast forward a few days later, I get the same message. A little perturbed, I brought the car back in. The service department said they had never had this issue (not surprised, small town), and that they would be in touch with some GM techs.
Fast over two weeks later and the have replaced sensors, a module and god knows what else. They also sent all my specs to GM to review and GM isn't really sure what is going on either.
I was told that if this last Module fix didn't work, they were going to have to replace the rear differential. Obviously, like I stated earlier, and like most of you could gather reading my post, I'm unaware of the severity of this. I know it's an expensive fix for GM, that's about all I know.
I have checked into the local lemon laws and I do have some steps that I can take at this point, being that the car has been in the shop for 15 consecutive days. I'd be curios to get some of your thoughts on what you would do in my situation? I don't mind them fixing it, but is this going to De-value my car in the long run?
Thanks in advance,
DB
Agreed, I had a Mustang that got two rear diffs under the power-train. Not that big of a deal, let them fix it, enjoy the car.
The lemon law probably won't apply to a two year old car anyway. Plus it's a pain to go through...

I read the rear diff leaking thingy on a CTS-V forum as the systems are very close and have the same issues.

And as mentioned earlier, it's probably too late for a Lemon Law claim (but you can check it out to be sure).
