My interpretation has always been that they are features that intervene to help prevent an accident, e.g. anti-lock brakes, traction control, torque vectoring, etc.

Switch to "Track" Press the button twice. Select "Dry". All the nannies are off. If the rear of the car swaps ends with the front, it was all on you and the "nannies" weren't there to keep you from looking silly.

Nannies are built in features that try to cover your *** when you do something stupid and you try to get the car to where it is out of control.

To the OP, the electronic nannies keep you from losing control of the car, mainly traction control, which reduces throttle if the rear wheels start to spin, and stability control, which selectively applies a brake to straighten out the car if it starts to spin around.

when they kick in, you'll probably know it immediately.
That is, you'll feel the car snap back into line
Or try to, depending on how bad it is.
Just like with people, there are some things even the best nanny can't prevent.

Nannies are the people who watch the kids who were conceived after (during?) cruising around in your Vette.

Of no help if you arent looking where you want the car to go. a C8 went off because driver had target fixation. Instructor said speed was well within controllable limits of the C8 very sophisticated active handling, but center console is so massive , he couldn't reach wheel in time to save car.

Non-human Nannie's started developing in the late 60's and early 70's, for the most part, by the court system and the Government, to prevent stupid or adventurous people from killing themselves.

Think of the ID10T who dove into the water at, I believe Newport Beach, head first, in shallow water, and broke his neck.

Funny, my Mother and everyone I knew, always told everyone to check the depth of the water, before you dive in.

Closey followed by the woman who bought a cup of hot coffee at McDonald's and dropped it in her lap. She said it was too hot! Imagine, hot coffee , being, well hot. She won the case

My personal pick for stupidity goes to the woman who's rotary lawnmower mulcher was clogged by grass (the plate that keeps the grass in the cage so it is cut more than once), and tried to clear it with the rotary blade turning. She lost some fingers and won the case!

We are talking big money cases that ended up costing the consumer a lot.

I could go on, but, nannie's have saved a lot of stupid people over the years, and you can see how well that worked out over the ensuing decades! jmho
