2016 A/C Compressor...Help
2016. Z06/07 - Day after 500 mile oil change, ac. quit.
Like in hot air and green dye all over bottom of car and snout of compressor . Dealer says it's shaft seal and replacement of compressor will be required.
The very young mechanic mentioned the cradle must be lowered to do job.
My question is can it be done without cradle drop ?
Maybe from top with air box & alternator removed.
I know many jobs have shortcuts to save time over shop manual directions.
Not wanting all that disturbed on such a new vehicle.
Also my area isn't known for repair of such vehicles in any volume to speak of and any work will probably be a first for the mechanic and shop.

I have seen pics with upper components removed and it seems somewhat accessible.
Seems pretty major to drop cradle for compressor swap. Lots of items disturbed that are in factory fresh condition.
If they can do it without dropping it they won't drop it, they might remove the motor mounts then lift the engine, I highly doubt they will drop the cradle.
You don't do anything that involved to replace a simple part like a compressor.

The dealer shop manual says so. lower cradle. yes i agree they will use easiest method presuming the young mech. knows one. If anyone does since such a new design.
