Default Leather treatment

Hey all, I have been searching for hours now and haven't found answer so am posting question about treating the leather in my 2014 3lt. I know there are a lot of good products out there but my concern is staining the stitching. I have a 3lt with black interior and white stitching, looks great and I don't want to use any leather treatment that is going to turn the stitching brown or discolor it. Any help ??

"Glen e" always has great advice on Vette cleaning/maintenance. Do a search for his posts and you'll get a wealth of excellent info

In all honesty the stitching will stain or discolor just from your pants. Also the leather in these cars is without question bottom of the barrel but works to our advantage because its extremely durable and shows little wear. I have had high end leather in my BMW M5, my Mercedes C63 AMG, and always have used Armoral Leather wipes. They are easy to use, clean well and keep the leather looking new. I have sworn by these for years. I wipe the seats about once every 2 weeks. You wont go wrong and the price is right. Is there higher end conditioners... absolutely but in my opinion there is no need for it with the grade and quality of the leather in the 3LT or the 2LT. Hope that helps.

I read that using a damp cloth to wipe the leather down to remove dust and dirt is all that is needed.

From everything I've read, the leather in our cars is plastic coated, so no "treatment" is really going to impact the leather at all.

use a multi surface protectant like poorboy's natural look or aerospace 303

read this:

buy fancy leather cleaner/conditioner because you like the smell, but realize you are not conditioning the leather...

This is all that's needed, because the leather has a plastic coating on it. No leather conditioner will actually ever touch the leather, so the only reason to use it is if you really like the smell, or perhaps UV blocking properties.

As far as keeping light-colored stitching clean, I have used a Q-tip with regular hydrogen peroxide (brown bottle from drug store 3%) on the off-white stitching on my Cashmere interior for 10 years with great results. It's the active ingredient in many spot remover products. Test on an inconspicuous spot to make sure that it won't mark the dark leather, and keep it away from dark carpeting or the MF suede. Let it dry completely before sitting in it.

Some leather products will fade the leather if used often!

You probably cant go too far wrong by following the advice in the owner's manual. Ive just used the recommended damp cloth on the last few Vettes and seemed to do just fine.

Here is a product that I discovered a few years ago. It's all I use now.

There may be a better product out there, but if there is, I haven't found it.

Lexol products. It removes grease, anti-seize, and blood on white leather. I know.

For leather, I've used Zaino Leather Cleaner and Leather in a Bottle for almost 10 years. Cleans great, smells fantastic.

That's what I use on my Vette Essentials leather pieces and they look very good even after six years.

Which Aerospace 303? Different types listed or does it make any difference? Also having hard time locating to buy other than Amazon. Any special auto parts store sell? Thanks.
