Default Battery access

How do I get access to the battery in my C7? Does any fascia have to be removed or can the trunk carpet just be pulled up? I believe that it is just below the charger plug in the right rear corner. Smarter minds please respond.

Just pull up the carpet in the hatch area at the rear corner on the passenger side. Once you do that it will be obvious.

Yes, just pull up the carpet on the right side.

Just carefully pull up the carpet in the corner under the charger plug. Not the best system I have ever seen but it works.

Yep it is in the right rear corner. Try it before you need to have access! Be very careful or you'll rip the carpet! First, unclip the bottom of the plastic inner rear wheel well cover. Easy to do, no need to remove the upper fasteners or clips. If you have a plastic trim tool use it (a set at Harbor Freight ~$5.) Or wrap the end of a screw driver with tape. Insert the tool or screw driver tip about 1 inch up the rear side between the fender well and side panel. It will pop off with little force. Use your fingers and the front fender well clip will release. That will allow the carpet to be carefully pulled out without tearing the inner corner. There is a Styrofoam cover over the battery. Remove it. The battery is underneath! Look in the owner's manual, a sketch is shown but no mention of unclipping the bottom of the fender well, but as mentioned if you don't the carpet could rip! Not hard if you're careful.

How right you are. They had to work at it to make this more difficult. I suppose that their thinking is that there is no need to access the battery unless you intend to replace it.
