Oil life reset
Being relatively new to my C7 ...I reset the oil life monitor when it was at 86% ..now it reads 100 % ..anyway to restore the 86 % which is where it should be ...or just live with it ? tks
change the oil. then all is good.
I don't think that you can set it to anything other than 100%.
Otherwise, just live with it and remember to change it well before it gets to zero. I rarely let it go much below 25% anyway.

Go by the oil monitor! At around 5-10% change the oil. 7,500 miles is a guide line for mileage. Use the percentage. It uses an algorithm based on engine revs and heat while operating, as well as days, to judge the remaining approximate oil life.

Since nobody has really answered your question, no, you can't "restore" the 86% reading or any other number less than 100%.
A dealer can restore the oil life but don't bother. The car's not going to stop, the engine is not going to blow (due to this), the oil is not going to dissolve, and the IRS won't come after you if you're off a few percent the next time you change oil.
One of the factors that will cause the percent remaining to go down is time since last changed, like was mentioned above. Just by letting the car sit will cause the percent to lower so being off by a few percent is no big deal.

I agree with just changing the oil a tad early next time. Car will be fine.
As I understand it, changing oil frequently is often unneeded. Back when I had the 08 I'd change my oil about once a year. Never had a problem. Also, from this Edmunds article:
Synthetic oils, such as the popular Mobil 1, are stretching oil change intervals, leaving the 3,000-mile mark in the dust. "The great majority of new vehicles today have a recommended oil change interval greater than 3,000 miles," said Mobil spokeswoman Kristen A. Hellmer. The company's most advanced synthetic product (Mobil 1 Extended Performance) is guaranteed for 15,000 miles.

Did the same with my '08 at a year because the oil monitor still showed some mileage left. The difference with the C7 it not only says change after a year max time is also is in the oil monitor algorithm! If you don't drive enough it will say change when the year is up.

OK, I'll ask -- How do you reset the oil monitor?
