Default Z51 Replacement Tires?

Need to replace the rear 20-inchers on my '14 Z51. Fronts are in good shape so don't need those now. I'd like to go wider than the stock - what is the widest anyone has gone with a Michelin Super Sport on the front and rear without scraping or setting off traction control error messages? I think a 295/30/20 is what the rear wheel is rated for max and probably also one size wider on the front as well. The PO put non-rf's and I'm sticking with those.

Would like to hear real-life experiences.

TIA

305/30/20's fit, think I'm going to try some nitto nt05's this time around, try for a little more traction than the super sports
I need to order some new rears the next couple days

Wish i could but this is a daily driver and I need a higher wear rating. I got about 30k out of the SS's on my Mini Cooper S. What's typical for these NT05's?

NT05's come in a 305/30ZR20, which will likely fit on our stock 20x10 Z51 rim. The problem is their diameter is 27.7" and the stock rear PSS's are 26.5". Not sure that ratio will work because they are 1.2" taller. My car is lowered as well so I am guessing they are going to rub.

I am thinking about trying Michelin Sport Cup 2's on the rear and keeping my stock PSS up front. The Cup 2's are 295/30ZR20 and diameter is 27.0 inches... The bummer is they are $552 each and currently on back order

Went from the stock 205 to a 225 MSS on my Mini and the fit was beautiful - no obvious bulge with a flat contact patch and have been running those for 4 years on the Ortega Hwy. on my dd which is extremely challenging to tires/suspension at speed. Tires wear and perform perfectly and the look and grip are excellent.

Again, looking for actual real-world here.

Love the Ortega Hwy!

I used to drive that every weekend, when I lived in Laguna and was jumping at Elsinore and Perris. A fun drive, for sure .

Awesome drive! Unfortunately, it's gets crowded early nowadays but I leave at 4:45 AM and usually don't hit the Ortega on the way home until ~7 PM so I do get some decent drives in. Makes commuting to Irvine in a C7 worth it.

Yes there is. There are a number of tires not available in the exact OEM size.

I understand. But a 305 tire is to wide for a 10.0 rim. You want the tire to have little stretch on its fit.

i would love to run a wider tire, but I don't think it would look any better or perform any better. Because of the rim.

305 may be too wide, but even 295 gives you tire choices you don't have with 285.

I have 19k on my SS tires and they still look pretty good. I really have my fingers crossed that Michelin will come out with the rumored runflat AS tires before spring. I barely driver the car in the winter so I can wait.
