Default Finished My Mini Me

I completed my Mini Me version of my car.

I started with a Maisto 2014 Stingray but it did not have the same spoiler because I had a Z51 spoiler added when I ordered the car. I purchased a Maisto 2014 Z51 Stingray to get the correct body and spoiler as mine.

Then I needed to move to the inside. Both models had the Kalahari interior and mine was Jet Black. I painted the interior and painted the silver accents found on the interior to get a match.

After that I needed to paint the brakes, the model had red and my vehicle has the dark gray. My car has the transparent roof so I needed to paint the model roof and get it shined up to look like glass.

At this point things were looking pretty close. The only problem I had was the RPI Side Skirts I had added this summer. It took me a few failed attempts to fabricate something that matched before a decided to cut up a small plastic storage container and shape the plastic to the same specs.

After painting the miniature skirts and gluing them on I think I have a replica of my car.

My C6 was white, no white models.
So I got a C7 torch red. What the... The models are white or blue. Man!

So I bought a blue Z51. Took every piece off. Painted the mirrors, spoiler, halo, top and stinger on hood carbon flash. Then painted seats black and the shift **** white with 7 speed pattern. Detailed the engine and under carriage. Then taped off the top and hood and painted the car torch red and reassembled. Need to take some better pics.

They all look great, guys!

I so want to do this, all I need is a Vert w/Torque wheels to start! Or a Vert, and some Torque wheels to put on it! I can paint it to look right, that's the easy part.

If you get the chance I would love to see photos of the detailed engine. I bet that took some real work.

Awesome job!

I pass this along in case anybody is interested in making an accurate C7 based on exactly your color combination. This guy made the wheels non-rolling and put aftermarket wheels on (heh!) but he shows some great ideas on painting techniques including tinting the 'glass'.
